Hades is a roguelike action role-playing video game developed and published by Supergiant Games. It was released for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2020, which followed an early access release from December 2018.

Players control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld to reach Mount Olympus, at times aided by gifts bestowed on him from the other Olympians. Each run challenges the player through a random series of rooms populated with enemies and rewards. The game has a hack and slash combat system; the player uses a combination of their main weapon attack, dash power, and magic ability to defeat them while avoiding damage to progress as far as possible. While Zagreus will often die, the player can use gained treasure to improve certain attributes or unlock new weapons and abilities to improve chances of escaping on subsequent runs.

  1. Alright, BIG comment time, with notes from prev episodes thrown in.

Early on you were correct about Skelly's tooth being pointless early in the run. The tooth is the FINAL death defy to be used.

With the shield, def learn to use the charge! You block attacks from the front both during the charge and the dash.

Great job with Theseus! It was definitely going to be a hard fight because you didn't have any damage spikes. In future runs, once you complete the fight, you should check out the upper leftish section of their boss room.

And you finally reached area 4, AND Hades, so I can be pretty open about everything mechanically now! LOTS of info about this area.

Yes, that shop is why the interest is good. He can also sell titan blood at 1200 money. Hypnos coin purse trinket in area 1 can give you a decent headstart on getting interest rewards.

The anvil is a double edged sword. It does remove a hammer, then gives 2 hammer powers, but it does this AT RANDOM, so it can break your build. (you don't get choices)

So poison, huh? It's a nightmare. Good practice to make a mental note of where the poison cure things are at the start of each room. Small rooms typically have 1, while large rooms usually have 2.
Satyrs have that poison blow gun attack, so I usually try to make sure they die first.
Also, Ares call can help a bit with mitigating poison damage! Since it makes you invulnerable, you can use single bars just as a method of traveling to the cure.
Poison effects do subside when the room is clear. Actually, all enemy attacks don't do damage upon room clear. This usually applies to bomb throwers, and their final death bomb.

The Dio boon at the shop was so expensive, because it has upgraded rarity on the selections it provides you. 2 blue and 1 purple for you!
You couldn't have known this, but the damage up and full heal on fountain boon was probably the best option. The Satyr tunnels always give you 1 fountain when you get the Satyr sack for Cerberus. Would have had full health entering Hades fight with that boon.

On that note, you got pretty unlucky with the Satyr tunnels. You can find the satyr sack starting on tunnel 2 explored. I have a hypothesis that if your run is pretty quick, it might guarantee the sack on tunnel 2 for speedrunning purposes, but I have no proof for that. Just feels correct.
The tunnels will always have 2 tunnels designated as 'miniboss' encounters. The rewards for them will be better though!

For the tunnels, since they're so cramped, this is actually where knockback effects shine the MOST. Shield and Poseidon boons absolutely explode things in these rooms, because you get wall slam damage on nearly every attack, frequently multiple times. However, most bow users begin to suffer, because volleys become VERY hard to optimize, since they hit walls immediately, and can't get range.

Whaaaat, you knew Hades would be the final boss? Whatever could have given you that idea….. /s
Anyway, he's pretty straightforward, but does hit like a truck. Has multiple phases. You definitely want to deal with the spawned enemies at each 1/3 of his life bar. Don't try to ignore them like I did for a long time. That will get you killed. He only summons minions twice total.
Cool thing to note is that he's basically using a modified spear moveset! Importantly, his projectiles inflict 'boiling blood' upon embedding in you, which is what your casts can do as well! Neat little thematic touch, since he's your dad and all. If you want to see what those are doing to you, check the mirror!

Endgame info for Nic, for LP planning:
    ————————————————————
Since you're now at the point where it's viable that you could complete the game, I realize you probably want an actual end to the series. Here's info about endgame content.

It looks like the Heat mechanic is unlocked upon beating Hades the first time. This allows for you to take 'heat points' with the drawback of making your run harder. This is how you get the boss rewards more than once (upping heat level allows you to get the rewards again)

The one thing I'd say is that the heat effect 'Extreme Measures' has very good content behind it. It's difficult though! It transforms bosses into harder versions. Hades has a GREAT moment with it, but Theseus and Minotaur are the most memorable. Worth at least seeing Theseus / Asty under Extreme Measures. Note that each heat effect can be activated multiple times, so to see EM Hades, you have to activate this 4 times, adding 10 heat total, then slog through EM versions of all three other bosses first. I consider beating EM Hades to be the most satisfying moment of the game.

There is a challenge that Skelly gives you, and it's completed by completing a run with 32 heat. I wouldn't recommend actually trying to complete this for the LP, because it's obscenely hard, however an attempt or two would be fun.

Beyond heat, there's a 'true end' cutscene upon 10 runs completed. It does wrap up the story fairly neatly, and it's treated as an official end. I think that doing this would probably make the LP drag on for too long, but this is up to you.

After the 'true end', there's an epilogue cutscene achieved by maxing out every Olympian god's relationship. LOTS of nectar and Ambrosia required. This is almost certainly not worth it for an LP, would take wayyyy too long.
