► Hades 1.0 Full Release Story Synopsis

Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.

As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.

  1. Yeah, the speedruns for this are insane. I mean, speedrunning is usually impressive but this is one of those games, like Celeste, that really shows that some speedrunners are playing on another level entirely.

  2. I like how unlocking the hearts ties into other objectives to encourage you to explore the game. Like Ares being unlocked by hitting some amount of kills makes sense, but then you also have poseidon unlocked by fishing, and I'm fairly sure that Aphrodite was unlocked by completing all three romance trees, it's just a wonderful meshing of game design.

  3. So Overly Sarcastic Productions just did a video on Hades and Persephone. It's a nice summary of a lot of material the game presents scattered throughout it, and just a good look at what the host refers to as the only Greek myth that gets more wholesome if you go back to the primary sources.

  4. That was a very eventful run!! Congrats!
A few fun facts about those little ~heart~ scenes, which are designated "Intermissions."
    1. There originally weren't hearts. There weren't even exclamation points! You'd just. assume Meg or Than had one of their uneventful repeating lines to say and then BAM, bedroom scene. It was a little bit a lot and I'm glad there are hearts for a heads-up now. (Honestly I think it works better for player consent to the scene. Er, at least after you've figured out what it means.)
    2. Because Meg and Than can sometimes be found chatting together in the lounge, which is where Meg's character is usually stationed, it was originally possible for Meg–and Meg only–to initiate one of these scenes from within their little chats. That's right. Meg was originally inclined to just straight-up walk away from another conversation to go get some. …Honestly, I believe it.
    3. The exclamation point indicators to indicate that a character has something new to say are called "WantsToTalk." The hearts are called… "WantsToSmooch."

  5. That was a lot of things happening for one run, and a lot of couples too 😀
ps: not sure if you noticed, or in editing maybe, but you almost died to Meg (9 health left), and again after that in Asphodel at 16:11 (3 health left lol), it wouldn't have made a difference though and that was a super fast run for it 🙂

  6. So in one run you reunited the lovers, finished delivering invitations, unlocked the final heart for an Olympian, and got one of the last four Daedalus enchantments? Not bad at all.
EDIT: And your finally got Antos?! This run was just made of progress!
