mythology crash course time! which i guess means spoilers for this game?
-demeter brings winter because persephone, her daughter, is gone, that's why it's always winter and dark when zag escapes, because persephone isn't home with mommy.
-persephone is an olympian god, not a cthonic god. she isn't bound to the underworld like hades is because she's got nothing to do with it. she's a visitor there, a guest, while hades is bound as its lord and master and zagreus is bound as its heir.
-nyx is kind of a boogeyman for the olympian gods, she's one of the protogenoi, the race that sprung from chaos and predates the titans, representing fundamental concepts like the sky, the earth and the night. she is MUCH more powerful than any of the olympian gods, only outranked by chaos. her shroud is hiding zagreus from sight here.
-zagreus is actually a real god in the greek myths, the son of hades and persephone. he's god of mysteries, one of several gods of hunting, a god of rebirth and is connected to ritual sacrifice, as well as being "the highest of the underworld gods", whatever that means. some versions of the myths (ophism) think of him and dionysus as the same person (with multiple distinct rationalizations for how) while others associate him with hades as either an alter ego or relative.

Here's a tip "extreme measures" is one of the best options on the pact because it not only gives you more heat and makes the bosses more dificult, but, it also progresses the boss stories along.

The thing I like about this game the most is that it feels like a Greek myth. A hero that battles countless times out of an inescapable realm, where his only goal is seeing his mother for a few minutes. That's it. Once he sees her, his motivation is entirely love; not revenge, not greed or even curiosity. Love. It does make sense how in Greek mythology Gods and mortals alike tend to fear Aphrodite the most.
I JUST had a successful run with breaching cross but I synergized it with another hammer that give me a stronger dash attack and Hermes gave me an epic dash boon (that's 3 whole dashes). My spacebar is still recovering from that one
