The behavior of Zeus in Disney’s Hercules has never sat right with me, and I finally have a Disney theory as to why the movie doesn’t quite make sense with Hades stealing a royal baby!

I wouldn't be surprised. Disney Zeus always gave me bad/creepy vibes.
Makes sence XD
The only thing i can argue is that pegasus IS a god in greek mythology. Hes the child of medusa and poseidon
Love this video! I would argue that Hercules' last act was the one that made him a God because it was for love (just like love is the center of the Harry Potter universe).
I was wondering if you've ever watched that Kingdom Hearts video yet
It doesn't matter the continuity; Zeus is a colossal, useless prick.
Hercules is definitely the weakest of the Disney Renaissance along with Pocahontas. I still can't believe they made Hades the bad guy when Hera would have made much more sense.
I mean 👀 true heros don't do it for themselves or their own gain. Which is what Hercules was doing until he saved meg. Helping others for your own gain & popularity or power is wrong because it's only for attention.
I made it to the end!😀
Watso videos did a video on what the potion that made hercules mortal
His guess is that the potion was made of Opheuctarus (or serpent-bull) blood because there is a myth that any who kills and sacrificed such a pure creature will gain power to overthrow the gods
ok about the Pegasus question. I thin the reason Pegasus is able to live in Olympus despite not being a god is because Pegasus is literally made out of the clouds of Mt Olympus so in technicality he IS Olympus which is why he can live among the gods without dying.
This is a shocker! I never thought this was possible!
I also wondered about who was guarding Mount Olympus and why Zeus didn’t raise Hercules.
I totally agree with you after seeing this video!
I made it to the end as usual!
That means that when Zeus says "your mother and i loved You with all heart" (i don't know how the actual líne goes , i've been watching the movie in spanish since i fiesta watched it) anywho, happy saturday (i Guess" Fangirl , take care.
I relate to Catra in pretty much every way and I am a male. My sister Katie was always the golden child of the family who could never do anything wrong and always got good grades…. meanwhile I was the troublemaker, the outcast and the scapegoat. I even had anger issues like Catra when I was little and I still do even though I've more or less got a good grip on them, again like Catra
I had been placed into several correctional facilities every time I did something wrong, no matter how small it was. it was like my parents didn't even want me part of the family anymore and so I spent more of my life inside a correctional facility than outside of one
I think the worst part of all of it though was when my own mother stood around and did NOTHING as I was bleeding out on her floor after busting my head open on the METAL corner of a coffee table. it wasn't until my father got home from getting fast food that I was taken to the hospital and told that it was close
My mother forced me to join my brother Zack who didn't have a driver's license and my other sister Ana to the gas stop to buy her cigarettes. if the no license thing wasn't a red flag then him almost crashing into the fence on our way out, almost crashing into the fence near the gas stop and then crashing into our fence when we got home DEFINITELY SHOULD'VE BEEN
I was also always bullied on the bus to school for older kids for some reason. I was rather young for all of these, 5 to 6 or 7 at least, maybe even younger than that but I was bullied on the bus, had some wannabe cowboy always picking on me which scared me because he was like 16 or 17 and about 6'2 maybe 5'11. if that wasn't bad enough the principal there didn't believe a word I told him about it and I was the one who got in trouble after lashing out in class
He took a wooden paddle and forced me to pull my pants down so he could spank me. I told my mother and other than acting like she cared she didn't do anything, then I told my father who took me to school himself and threatened the principal right in front of me like he was trying to teach me something about life
after all of that, they started wondering why I was such a troublemaker. why I hurt my teachers and lashed out all the time, why I couldn't behave and that's actually when they started throwing me in correctional facilities every chance they got. kept telling them that it was their fault I was this way to which both DENIED IT
They love to gaslight me, love to try and make me second guess myself but I know them. I knew ever since they tried getting rid of me that they weren't as good as they want to make themselves out to be, the unfortunate thing is that no one else sees it and now my sister has a child whom she lets our father around. I fear that the child will have the same uprising as myself because my sister is slowly becoming like our mother, as much as she thinks she isn't
I think divine and divine created beings (like Pegasus) can live on Olympus in the movie universe, and that's why pain and panic can visit Olympus. Fun fact: Pain and Panic is based on the daemons Deimos and Phobos, a daemon is a personified spirit of the human condition and abstract concepts. I think the reason why Hades and the Fates don't have auras is because they're not Olympians in the movie by Olympians I mean Gods that live on Mount Olympus. While Hades and the Fates are Chthonic (Underworld) Deities. Fun fact: Hercules isn't the Greek name, it's Roman. His ORIGINAL birth name is actually Alcaeus. He earned his name Heracles through doing his trials from Hera which is the Greek original name. The break down of the name is Hera-cles and "cles" means "Hero, Champion". So his name means Heras champion.
In greek mythology it's stated that if a mortal ever saw the true form of a god then they'd be burned to a crisp (that's how Dyonisus' mom died) the gods can actively choose to avoid this, but it comes to reason that they can't do it 24/7. With this logic, it's impossible for a regular mortal to live permanently on Olimpus, because all the gods are walking biohazards, that's why they couldn't raise Herc, to try would have put him in danger.
I was wondering if you could do a theory on DuckTales 2017 (Maybe on who the triples father is) (I have some theories)
Considering the original mythology, I wouldn't be surprised.
Hercules nearly being killed by the River-Styx isn't the sacrifice that gets him god-hood. For the one thing, Herc knows from Hades that the River Styx is a river of death. And according to the deal they make, if Herc can get Meg out, then she goes free…but Hercules stays in her place. Therefore, Hercules is sacrificing himself so that Meg can come back to life. The problem is, because the sacrifice was noble enough to qualify for True Hero status, Herc's godhood was restored – and since Gods can't die, the River Styx couldn't keep him – so basically he gets out on a technicality.
In regards to Zeus overstepping the Muses…well…all nine of the Muses are Zeus' daughters…so yeah, his authority literally overules theirs. But not only that; keep in mind that the Muses and their contribution to the story is all a Framing Device for the actual movie. Everything they claim and sing about when it comes to Herc, is happening after the fact. Their song about Herc going from Zero to Hero is just them explaining how Herc got so famous – but they're not officially deeming him a Hero, because from their perspective, they're just recanting these events that happened a long time ago. Who knows, Herc's story could have happened before they were even born.
Also, Pain and Panic are actually Deimos and Phobos, the children of Ares – so yeah, they are Gods. But much like Hades, they're not exactly welcome on Olympus by the others, but they are still gods. They just happen to be doing dirty-work for Hades – and let's face it, Hades isn't going to bring his two-lackey's to a party – even if they are blood-related.
Zeus and Hera's lack of response when Herc is taken could be chalked up to…them being King and Queen of the gods, and the assumption that they are completely untouchable. So they probably would never have suspected that someone would sneak into Olympus while they slept and would kidnap their child.
As for why they didn't go to Alcmene and Amphitrion and explain the situation is…Well, it's not like they can take Hercules back home anyway now that he's mortal; and I have a feeling they'd have some hesitation about taking their child back from a mortal couple who had prayed for a child – especially considering the service they had done to find Herc and keep him safe thus far.
As for why they never reached out to Herc or his step-parents or ever communicated with them is…Well, imagine you're a child, and the literal King of the Gods rolls up to your farm and says, "Hey, I'm your real dad." Not only do you find out you're adopted, but by being Zeus' kid, you, yourself are in-fact, a god. How mature do you think you have to be to handle that?
Zeus even says it in the movie – "By-Thunder, you're old enough now to know the truth."
They had to wait until Hercules had matured enough to where the news of his divine heritage wouldn't overwhelm him nor go to his head – to where he'd be able to handle it. Plus, then he could spend the next three years training with Phil to be ready for godhood by the time of manhood.
But even still, the movie doesn't show it, but I'd like to think that Zeus and Hera had an indirect influence on Herc's life with Alcmene and Amphitrion; maybe they would occasionally bless the family with good fortune. I mean, look at that ridiculous hay-bale that Amphitrion takes to the market to sell when we see Hercules as a Teenager – you can't tell me that they managed to grow all of that without divine intervention.
😗 School For Good & Evil movie?
Umm I never understood why Zeus and Hera didn't have baby Hercules in their room with them. Or the fact that no one else heard the crash in the baby's room has always irked me for years.
They probably let him get taken so he can fulfill his prophecy of defeating Hades
so Zuse just dicked around a diffrent way
On top of that when the titans attacked Olympus Zeus told Hermes to sound the alarm to call all the other God's. Why didn't Zeus wake up all of Olympus to go find Hercules when Pain and Panic abducted him?
You know how Hades and the Fates know about the Titan prophecy? All the God's know about how the Titans are going to rise in 18 years time so what if Zeus planned on having a baby with Hera, a baby that could do his dirty work of beating the Titans becuase the Gods are actually very weak & lazy? You noticed how quickly the Titans overthrew Mount Olympus and the Gods but a God turned mortal that trained for 18years of his life can defeat a titan on his own (Cyclops dude) then travel to Olympus and free the other God's, only to defeat the other Titans by himself ( when Hercules grabbed Hurricane dude and sucked the other Titans in).
That's when your theory of Zeus teaming with Hades comes into play Kidnap my son so I don't have to raise him, let's train him to defeat the Titans ( lie and tell him he needs to do tasks to be a hero in order to be a God) So we, the God's do not have to and in the end the God's will get praised by the mortals, Olympus will still be intact while Hercules gets to be a God if he chooses.
Zues , hades and Athena killed their father chronos . Zues didn't care or was busy doing a puzzle. Tbh zues probably just went to the fates see his possible path and let fate play out knowing he would return. Hera also could care less she the goddess of marriage and this is not their first child. No more children to our mortal knowledge (I'm supposing). The real question is how did hades not know Hercules was still alive when he hangs out with dead humans all the time.
I remember when this movie came out around my sixth birthday back in 1997. I can’t believe that was 25 years ago…
Why even let your baby sleep in another room far away from the parentes🙄🤔. That's not normal. Until the kid is around 1½-2 years.
Good <3
Wrt diving in, does he have to die before he can be reborn a god? It's not just about being heroic?
I would say all the stuff he did was to be a god it’s only when he sacrificed himself for Meg was the only time he was a hero for the fight reason
I would say all the stuff he did was to be a god it’s only when he sacrificed himself for Meg was the only time he was a hero for the fight reason
Honestly this was always a question I had and I like the way you put it. It makes the most sense to me 🙂 thanks for the video!
