  1. My first ever win was on attempt 54, and this was without any prior game knowledge, and just knowing I liked the sword the most and Athena boons haha! I feel like the biggest ramp up of skill in this game typically happens after you beat it for the first time, no? (Probably because you're accumulating more currency for mirror and weapon upgrades). Once I beat it the first time, I started beating it way more frequently, and I'm sure if I didn't stumble upon this channel, my skills wouldn't have gotten as much better as they did (I looked at your videos because I didn't know how to use the Rail lol).

  2. I also recommend changing your dash button to a bumper or trigger button and then making a face button your call. It may seem that your face buttons are your main ones in video games but putting main actions on different fingers helps you to dash and attack at the same time by turning one finger into your dash finger. You might get some trigger finger habits from this but it's the best way I found to control the game.

  3. I think what makes you a Hades expert is getting a call from Amir (dev) berating you from taking hazard bomb in a no-hit run and absolutely wrecking Courtney (Aphro and Dusa VA) on Twitch 😂 but yes!!!! You are indeed the expert.

  4. I got my first clear on my 36th attempt! And now I'm somewhat easily beating 10+ heat runs and have 50+ successful escapes so give it time, I just started playing back in November 🙂 dash strikes are your best friend. Love your content!

  5. It took me 32 attempts to escape the 1st time, to add to the data. Though part of that was me struggling against all the bosses (took 7 tries to beat Hades)

Fists are definitely the easiest I think – once you realize that you can just hold down the button and keep attacking, it's much easier to just focus on dashing around and still dealing good damage. A lot of the other weapons require more skill to use well.

  6. I think it took me around 20-25 attempts to win my first run, I was using the nemesis aspect on the sword, with artemis on the attack, ares on the special and Athena on the dash, that run took me around 45 minutes I think lol

  7. I gotta agree that your Hades complete speed is entirely based on how fast the game "clicks" for you. Had an 80+ run file that couldn't get out of Elysium, walked away for a bit, and played games like Dark Souls, Nioh 2, Dead Cells, and Wizard of Legend. Restarted and blasted through by run 21, and am beginning to incorporate Erebus gates into my runs.

  8. It was escape 32 for me. Once I got Dark persuasion and I got that first escape it sort of clicked for me. I got to 10 escapes on 44. I will add that I died at Hades about 5 times before that first escape.

  9. Oddly enough I could never get a 32 heat win following Dan's advice, so I went completely the other way: EM4, 5min deadline, forced overtime 40% and some other BS. Got a nearly perfect Eris rail build and destroyed dad. It'll probably never happen again, so I took the win and went back to the 20 heat I'm comfortable with.

  10. The first time I escaped was on my 62nd try… I have a lot of excuses for that (no prior experience in the genre, didn't look things up, didn't play very regularly etc etc), but really I think I'm just quite bad at the game :') (it's still very fun tho, and I'm very exited for Hades 2!!)

I've been thinking about starting a new save file now that I've cleared the game a couple of times on a few different heat levels to see how long it would take me to get an escape this time. Bc honestly I sometimes think that I haven't gotten much better and the only reason I've ever cleared the game is thanks to all the permanent upgrades lol.

  11. I agree with your point on everyone's experience varies based on their exposure/information. I think I escaped for the first time in 15 runs, although I would consider myself an experienced action/roguelike player, and I watched friends play it, and I also pretty much stuck with one weapon, a handful of build setups, and focused primarily on beating the game

I definitely think if you are doing an entirely casual run, experimenting w/ weapons and boon combos, and are not experienced with the genre I expect that could easily be double or more

  12. On my first ever Hades playthru, it took maybe 30-40 runs before I beat [REDACTED] and that was with God Mode – I was getting way too frustrated with dying after run 25ish so I had to turn it on. I think I mostly stopped playing after I finished my first run. Then in early 2022, I started a new save and beat [REDACTED] around run 15 or 16 without God Mode, followed by 100+ more escapes with a heat max of 20-something. Here's the cool part though – Yesterday I started a fresh file save in honor of Hades 2… I nearly escaped on my 2nd run. First escape was run #6… It just goes to show that we can actually improve at video games with practice, even though it doesn't always seem like that.

  13. My first successful run took me 26 attempts. So much of it is knowledge rather than building in-game strength though. When I came back and played it again on PS4, it only took me 6 attempts.

  14. So on my first playthrough, it took me about 13 attempts to escape the underworld the first time. But now if I go back and start on a fresh file, I can escape in three.

  15. My first clear was at 34. I got to the "true ending" at about 55 (spent a lot of time clearing prophecies and experimenting with heat in there) and got the epilogue ending at 110.

I think 40 for the first clear is probably pretty close to the real average. 10 attempts per area to farm resources and experience? Seems right. Plus, if you're like me, you'll spend 5 runs trying to get out with Guan Yu with only 3 blood in it.

There's so much content and story that gets revealed before you get your first clear. I think it's practically OPTIMAL to the experience to take your time and do a lot of runs while there's still story to be revealed.

  16. 16:50 ACTUALLY dead cells has really cool and good storyline. It's just scattered randomly left and right, so it's hard to connect the dots + to actually get to the point where you get the entire story you need to beat the hardest difficulty. Most people just get stuck by this point. This game is HARD hard.

  17. 18:35 I started using tight deadline as soon as I unlocked pact of punishment. Started with 9 mins, quickly went to 7. No problem. Then I tried 5 mins/biome once. That was legit the first time I saw what happens when timer runs out. I thought it was instant death lol. Clock reached 0 when hades got into phase 2, I literally took my hands of keyboard and mouse. Realized that I'm "just" taking damage, looked at my ~200hp and 3 DD and finished the fight (barely). I think that tight deadline and EM4 Are my 2 favourite go-to choices.

  18. took me ~40 tries to escape with no godmode going in completely blind. My only beginning tip is:
DO NOT UPGRADE ALL WEAPONS AT ONCE, choose one aspect you like and upgrade that one first all the way to the max, you can only get ~15 titanblood before beating the game for the first time.
I tried to upgrade all aspects at once and ended up having a bunch of shitty level 1 weapons.

  19. I've done 50 heat with Rama bow and 40 heat with Eris rail, as well as 32 heat with all weapons (some multiple times with diff aspects). my first clear was on run #58, with a time of 44m53s! it took me a lot to get there, I had a legendary boon, a duo boon, two chaos boons, and a cyclops jerky. the weapon I did it with was the spear, which is now one of my worst weapons. It took a while for the combat of Hades to really "click" with me but once it did runs became incredibly more satisfying.

I wanna add two random tips to the video, a) if you like blocking, you can use the shield to block when you charge your bull rush, and b) Skelly's and Eurydice's keepsakes are incredibly useful for Elysium and Styx.

  20. First win after 27 attempts. With the spear surprisingly, didn’t like it initially, boons in that run just worked well. I had watched tips and tricks videos, but wasn’t trying to go for a specific build.
Got to end credits about 50 attempts in.

  21. I think it only took me about 20 attempts to beat the game. I think I was just really good at the game from the start. My main thing was being stuck at the Thesius and Asterius Fight for the longest time until I went with the strategy of killing the Bull 1st then Thesius. Hades took a couple attempts and is still hard but I was able to pull through.
