Is Dandy Ace a Clone of Hades?

Hades and Dandy Ace are both great games, but they don’t share much in common. I’ve played Dandy Ace for tens of hours and thoroughly enjoyed myself, and now I’m ready to tear down this comparison. While both Hades and Dandy Ace have plenty of rogue lite mechanics in common, Dandy Ace really shares far more in common with Dead Cells than it does Hades. Let’s break down 3 of these game’s core mechanics and explain exactly what makes these games so different.

  1. While the similarities in aesthetic is unavoidable, that's not a bad thing. It's not a blatant ripoff of Hades but rather seems to take inspiration from other Supergiant's games as well – the function system from Transistor, roguelite nature of Hades with a sprinkling of ideas from Bastion. All of which are great games, and if we get more games that are as much fun, that's more for us to play.

  2. Even if it does share some qualities, I don't get these types of complaints people make. Most games are clones of others that made a big splash. I rarely hear this as a negative with games like dungeon crawlers for instance, even though they're all basically Diablo clones.

  3. Yes, it is a clone. i like dandy ace alot more than hades, but its clearly hades plus dead cells, i mean, its explicit. You have the cells, the collector, the mutation npc, you have the same blueprint system, every level you complete there is a hub after, the same hp potion system (with even the same number of maximum uses, 4), the same method of different difficulties (with enemies that only appear in higher difficulties) and thats only from dead cells, you have the top down gameplay full of dashes, you have the card system from wizard of legend, the WHOLE game is derivative. The ONE thing that it really has of its own, its that in the end, Hades didnt have a mage weapon, or a way to play as a mage, and wizard of legend was too different from these two, so theres that. Mas eh um bom jogo msm assim.

  4. Lies of P brought me here to check out this game company. If they can make a good rip off off Hades, I'm hoping their Bloodborne ripoff will be just as good. Seems criminal that FromSoft hasn't made a sequel when so many fans loved it even more than their Dark Souls franchise.

  5. If only you had experiance with roguelikes you would know what this game was inspired from and it is not Hades. Hades probably took heavy inspiration from Chidren of Morta, while Dandy Ace seems to be resemble a lot of Wizzard of Legends, the swapable skill cards are VERY similar.
