Greek mythology Hades

In Greek mythology, Hades is the god of the underworld, the realm where the souls of the dead reside. He is one of the three major Olympian gods, alongside his brothers Zeus (the ruler of the heavens) and Poseidon (the ruler of the sea). Hades is often depicted as stern and somber, overseeing the dead and maintaining order in the underworld.

According to myth, after the overthrow of their father Cronus, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades divided the realms of the world among themselves. Zeus became the ruler of the heavens and the earth, Poseidon received dominion over the seas, and Hades was given control of the underworld.

Hades is often associated with wealth and riches, as precious metals and gems are believed to come from the earth, which falls under his domain. He is sometimes depicted with a helmet that renders him invisible, which he used during the Titanomachy (the war between the Titans and the Olympian gods) and other occasions.

Despite his ominous reputation, Hades is not typically considered an evil deity in Greek mythology. Instead, he is seen as a necessary and important figure, ensuring balance in the cosmos by presiding over the realm of the dead. However, he is feared by mortals due to the inevitability of death and the mysteries of the afterlife associated with him.
