HADES – Escape Attempt Number Seven

I’ve been a BASTION fan for years. Then I’ve been a TRANSISTOR fan for a couple more years. Then PYRE came out, and I was deeply confused and kind of skipped that…”thing” of a game. (sorry guys, it is not my cup of grog). Then after that, HADES blasted its way to early access and some aeons later it was launched out of Tartarus for the hordes of hungry gamers around the world to enjoy (meself included). It’s been a blast ever since. Then HADES II spawned out of the blue, crawling from the the deepest dungeons of the underworld, and it is currently in early access as well, so and I badly need to upgade my machine ASAP in order to try it out. But what’s the hurry, eh? Maybe I’ll just get a PS5 instead and play it in the near future? It’s not like someone’s chasing me, right? (I hope not) What more can I add to that? Well, perhaps a lot, but I will not torture your immortal souls into reading long essays on the subject. That will come sometime later. …I mean not the tortuting part, but the reading exercise part.

This is a SUPERGIANT game after all and one of the greatest Roguelike video games ever made by humans. Yes, yes, yes it is, don’t deny it and please for the love of Zeus, do not argue with me. This game is almost a godly perfection incarnated into a roguelike form. There’s everything in it. Fast-paced hack & slash rogue-action with RPG elements, a wide variety of weapons, godly boons and customizations, breathtaking environments and vistats, huge pool of enemy variety and mobs to sink your blade (or gun) into, super brilliant and pleasant to look at art style and enjoyable fluid gameplay, kick ass and original soundtrack and audio design by the one and only mister Darren Korb (not to mentioned that he voiced both Zagreus and Skelly in the game! God damn it, this man is just brilliant!), underlying humour and not too much over the top, but spectacular writing, story pacing and dialogue, and on top of all that it is all set in the underworld of Greek myth with all of the familiar gods, goddesses, monsters, demons, heroes, labyrinths, anti-heroes, romances and tragedies and whatever else the heck you can possibly imagine. To say that I am deeply in-loved and flabbergasted with this game can very much be an understatement. See for youself son. Chop-chop!

Now please go here and watch these couple of phenomenal and just beautifuly made, MAKING OF/BEHIND THE SCENES docs.
