Game Description:

Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.

BATTLE OUT OF HELL
As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.

UNLEASH THE FURY OF OLYMPUS
The Olympians have your back! Meet Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, and many more, and choose from their dozens of powerful Boons that enhance your abilities. There are thousands of viable character builds to discover as you go.

BEFRIEND GODS, GHOSTS, AND MONSTERS
A fully-voiced cast of colorful, larger-than-life characters is waiting to meet you! Grow your relationships with them, and experience thousands of unique story events as you learn about what’s really at stake for this big, dysfunctional family.

BUILT FOR REPLAYABILITY
New surprises await each time you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld, whose guardian bosses will remember you. Use the powerful Mirror of Night to grow permanently stronger, and give yourself a leg up the next time you run away from home.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE
Permanent upgrades mean you don’t have to be a god yourself to experience the exciting combat and gripping story. Though, if you happen to be one, crank up the challenge and get ready for some white-knuckle action that will put your well-practiced skills to the test.

SIGNATURE SUPERGIANT STYLE
The rich, atmospheric presentation and unique melding of gameplay and narrative that’s been core to Supergiant’s games is here in full force: spectacular hand-painted environments and a blood-pumping original score bring the Underworld to life.

  1. 30:17 EDIT: this comment was originally worded more strongly than I intended. It seems to me Keith doesn't realize that he can try Fated Persuasion without spending darkness on it – whether he realizes this is the case or not, I hope he tries it soon bc IMHO it is much better than Fated Authority!

  2. At the podcast part at the beginning i almost got a heart attack, i heard the snoring of hypnos in my left ear and it felt so close and out of context that i paused and checked to my left multiple times before noticing it came from the ingame audio

  3. 2:22:24 hah, Keith is nothing if not self-aware. He does have the most protracted Hades LPs I have ever seen… but hey, as long as he's having fun! It's good to hear his inner monologue sometimes. Even if it took a half-hour to start this run! 😛

  4. One flaw in this otherwise nearly perfect game is that it has the opportunity to give you more information but doesn't in many cases. For example, it could list in the requirements for any God Gauge boon that you need to have a God Gauge first…
Probably would have saved Keith a lot of time hunting a duo boon he couldn't get until mid-Elysium.

  5. One thing that I saw another Youtuber do to help with pushing through the long post-credits endgame was to put time pressure on herself using the "tight deadline" pact condition. Just having that looming time limit pushed her to play faster, and ended up basically halving her run length, from ~1.5 hours to ~45 minutes. If you decide you want to get the final ending, I would recommend liberally using that pact either to make episodes shorter and less tiring to play, or to include multiple runs in a single episode and accelerate the schedule.

That all being said, as much as I love this game, the post-credits stuff isn't so dramatically different from what you're doing right now that it needs to be seen. I certainly wouldn't blame you for calling it after the next ending. I think it would take something like 30 more episodes after the credits to get the final ending, or 15 if you do 2 fast runs per episode. That's a lot of Hades!

  6. But Keith you have the option for a fast Hades experience, just click "God Mod" I finished the game and
    SPOILER
    SPOILER
    SPOILER
Epilogue in around 60 runs; it went too fast for me and I had to replay the game and pace myself a bit.
Embrace your inner casual and activate God Mod, it even says there on the notes that god mod is for people who care about the story more than gameplay.

  7. 2:04:50 Haha I used that ability + the duo once and just spammed my zeus call with all the lightning enhancers i basically only dodged and called through the whole hades fight

2:07:50 Fated persuasion is always better than authority, and you can switch what the tokens do without 'investing', just by setting it in the mirrors. The darkness just gives you a free token ^^

  8. Yeah, advancing relationships takes a long time as it requires a lot of nectar – so I started spending all of my gems on nectar only. It seems that shop is optional, but if you want to steadily advance storylines of people you HAVE TO dump all your resources into it. Without nectar from shop, natural nectar drop rate is too slow. Maybe along with God Mode there should be mode where your rate of resources is doubled/tripled

  9. The story is really just there as a condiment to add flavor to your endless runs, there's no big payoffs after the credits. I think I got the second "ending" around 50 runs, and with 73 runs I'm still waiting for dialogue to catch up so I can finish some relationships.

  10. I agree with your beginning rant.
I am absolute garbage at this game, but I love playing it. Because of this, I have technically done more runs than you (30-ish at the moment) but only defeated Hades once. From this, I have seen a lot more side character plot than you have but not as much main story plot…. It is a weird dynamic. 😀

They do have the "Godhood Mode" that gives you increased damage resistance each time you die. It is tagged for "beginners or people in it for the story," and I can tell you for a fact that I would not have ever made it to the Hades fight without it. Hahaha~ I don't know if it does anything else to speed up the gameplay if you don't die during a run……

  11. Keith, you don't need to respond, but what you've been describing in recent videos sounds like depression (I'm familiar. I've had it for over 20 years). You might want to get checked out if you haven't'. Take care of yourself. A lot of us watching care about you.

  12. Go Bannanas with the Titan Blood and the Weapons Aspects, it's a currency that only works for the weapons (The Aspects of ??? requiere you to expend Blood on the weapons anyway). Experimenting with new weapons every run can break the monotony

  13. If you want to stretch the game a bit longer past the end credits but aren't sure you're up for doing the whole epilogue–which can take a long and super indefinite amount of time due to the way the game's conversation system works (it's easy to get stuck waiting for a conversation event to trigger even if you've met the requirements for it, since you only get one event per character per run, and its a mix of event priority and randomness that determines which one you get) there are other smaller "goals" you can aim for as well – the first one that jumps to mind is finishing the game on maxed Extreme Measures, or clear the game with X Heat, or try out all the weapon aspects or something like that.

I honestly don't think doing the whole epilogue is feasible for you unless you 1) Spoil yourself on what needs to be done, so you can do it efficiently, and 2) Speed up your runs, which I think is kind of antithetical to how you like to do Let's Plays. To be super clear – I'm not making a judgement here, I love your stuff – but it is kind of the reality with the way this game is structured – it's kind of built in a way that's expecting the player to burn through a run in 20-40min where having to grind through a few runs to get a specific conversation to trigger isn't such a big deal.

  14. Man Pyre … It's the game I really feel like I would love except I just can't get past how much I dislike the gameplay. Everything I ever hear about it is amazing and sounds like its right up my ally, but every time I try to pick it up I just really don't want to have to play through any of the rites. Kills me every time I hear someone talk about it.

  15. I always found it amusing and puzzling that on Zagreus' first encounter with any enemy he calls out "Bone Garglers!" or whatever, but now I'm convinced powers of identification by name are part of his godhood. There is no other way he would be familiar with the exact make and model of Theseus' fancy chariot.
