  1. I played FFXI on the PS2. It was my first MMO as well. I wouldn't say it was tedious as much as it was masochistic. You could actually LOSE levels in that game. And farming took FOREVER. I spent about 55 days played time, and I only had a lvl 55 Ranger/Ninja. It was a top of the line Ranger though, Leaping boots, Emperor's Hairpin, etc. Like everything I used was the best it could possibly be, cept for maybe Eurytos' Bow. Back then Rangers were overpowered too, because you could shoot point blank, while melee attacking at the same time. Kind of miss that game every now and then, especially because I never reached max level. Kinda sad about it. I was always more worried about getting the best possible gear. lol

  2. Same, FFXI was my first MMO because my best friend was into all the FF games. It was difficult because of what you said as well as the fact that the experienced Japanese players who speak no English are in the same server as the newbie English players when the English version just launched which made partying up difficult since party composition mattered for leveling efficiency. When I try WoW after FFXI, the game felt so easy like it was made for kids until it get to the raid portion.
