Backyard Pest Control with the 30 cal JSB Hades-First Squirrel Down in Wisconsin

You know what big fans we are of the JSB Hades pellet for pest control. We have more empty tins of the .22 cal pellets than we know what to do with.

  1. I got some last week…at 935 out of my Maverick they destroy starlings!
Woodchucks are starting to appear and I'll be giving these a go! Still using slugs for long range but think these will do well 80 yards and under!

  2. I've been waiting for this one to get up on YT. I tried to watch it on AG101, but it wouldn't play for me there for some reason.
I had just received some Hades in 30 a few days before you put this up over there. They don't shoot as well as the 44.75 JSB domed pellets in my MK II on the tune I have , bur are plenty good enough for 50 to maybe 75 yard shooting on my tune. My gun is tuned for the Hybrids and I don't want to change it as they are what I use most. I shot a starling at about 8 yards with a Hades on the very first shot fired using them. No more damage than the domed would have done, but very dead, very quick just the same LOL.
They expanded in water better than either the 22 or 25 hades did when fired at the same speed of approx 950 fps. None I have ever recovered from any caliber have expanded much at all in actual game, but they seem to kill faster for whatever reason. I have chatted with you about the hades killing better than what their somewhat limited expansion would indicate they will do not too long ago. Not sure what it is about the three holes that does it, but it is noticeable on game.

What is the twist rate of your 30 liner used here? Mine is a 1-23" twist. I also have a 1-22" twist, but have never used it yet as the 23 works with both the 44.75's and the Hybrids all the way out to 105 yards, which is as far as I can shoot on my own place.

  3. I'M using the Air venturi Avenger in .25,loves the Hades and JSB king heavys, also shoot the Hades in .22 in a FX STREAMLINE and shoots very tight groups out to 75 yards.
lol do you think .30 is overkill for squirrels, when I hit a squirrel with .25 hybrid slugs it sounds like a fire cracker going off.
