Today I’m playing “The Unseen Ones” on Beat Saber, this is a song from the soundtrack of Hades, a roguelike game from Supergiant Games. I’ve already played this song before, but that was mapped by an AI, this time is done by a person and as requested I added a few comparisons here and there.

    As requested, I added a few comparisons between this map and the one I played a few months ago mapped by Beat Sage AI in case of anyone is interested to compare an auto-generated map and one made by a person. (here 0:50, here 1:58 and here 3:46)
    Now my opinion about Beat Sage:  

    (English is my mother tongue, sorry if this wall of text is poorly written)

    I think it's a really cool tool, very useful on my channel when someone requests a song that hasn't been mapped. Now, I'm not okay with uploading auto-generated maps to BeatSaver, they are usually low quality, most people don't even bother to add lights, fix double directions or remove notes impossible to hit, at least you can filter those maps out. 

    Real people take much longer to map something, but a human can add details to the maps that an AI cannot (at least yet). A human knows when to place notes to make some part of a song more intense, or can choose to map the beat of the bass and later a guitar if that's going to make the map better, Beat Saber just slaps notes around more or less to the beat, sometimes the result is believable or even impressive, particularly on this map… it did a poor job, maybe in the future AI can make great maps, but I still think that humans can add some love for the song that will make it always better.

    Wow, the comparrasion on the major beats sure shows the lack of impact the AI has.
    Although it's a cool feature as you mentioned – not everyone has the time and will to map and it could be a good tool for private use – but for the public it would be bad, that's why in the BSMG it is unwelcomed to request a testplay for auto-generated maps.
