The guy who said entertainment is not a hobby is spot on. To be clear, what entertainment is is different to different people and nearly every activity can be either a "hobby" or a "pastime" depending on the person.
So anything you sit and idling do to pass the time is likely not a hobby. If you play mobile video games on your phone when you travel on the train to work, that is likely a pastme and not a hobby. Of course we all know people where video games is a hobby as well.
Not that hobby debate again lmao
Listening to music and watching tv are both hobbies. They're just not particularly interesting ones on their surface. But like any hobby, you can have a deeper interest in it and make it more interesting.
We just think of something like collecting stamps or building model airplanes as "more" of a hobby because they're less relatable and thus more interesting to the observer. If every single person collected stamps, you'd probably say collecting stamps isn't a hobby, it's just something you do for fun.
The point of a hobby is to enjoy it, to have fun with it, and to do it often.
Hobbies & interests are different, a hobby should at least require active participation, and some repetition
You really care about the definition of a hobby lol. You talk more about that during videos than anything. 😂
hob·by 1 (hŏb′ē)
n. pl. hob·bies
'An activity or interest pursued outside one's regular occupation and engaged in primarily for pleasure.'
I think the key here "pursued outside regular"
So going out of your way, specifically to seek pleasure, counts as a hobby. So entertainment, music, TV, sports, Twitch, anything counts.
I think why some things don't feel like a hobby is because so many people (or everyone) are doing it and there's a stigma on hobbies that it has to set you apart or be unique to your person. But all those things count as a hobby, even if they're stigmatised.
I’m honestly tired of ppl trying so hard to determine what other ppl like to do in their own time or what they want to call it.
Oxford says, “an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure”. So yeah, literally anything can be a hobby.
I mean, video games are my hobby, but as a working adult I have time and energy to play anything like, once a week, some times once every two weeks. I personally don’t have the chance of doing all the things that I enjoy with such regularity as to say I do them every day or multiple times a week. I wouldn’t say my hobbies/pass times are invalid, nevertheless. I do them when I have the chance and that’s okay. Otherwise, my only real hobbies would be my basic physiological needs, work, and social media.
Describing Chain Skewer as “Not amazing” is like calling the desert “Not as wet as the ocean.”
This may sound a bit strange, I recently tried a crystal beam (aphro duo) with hera. You shoot the enemy and the crystal spawns behind them pointing directly at you and it was a lot of fun, if you haven't already it might be worth trying out.
I think if it's a hobby if it's something that you plan on. Something that you think about when you're /not/ doing it, and make changes in your life to support it. Even if you only do it once a year, if you think about it, prepare for it, and structure parts of your year around that thing, so when the time comes up, you CAN do it, that totally counts. It's just about passion and personal investment. Doesn't matter how much you can get around doing it. If it takes you 5 years to save up to go to disneyworld, and you spend years carefully planning budget, doing research on hotels, etc, slowly planning that perfect trip… that's a hobby
It’s good, especially when you have pierced butterfly and status like Dio or Ares.
I think it's the universality of listening to music that makes it kind of a mon-hobby. Like, when you're getting to know someone you ask, "What kind of music do you like?" not, "Do you like music?" Has anyone ever asked that??
Also, I see "Travel" as a dog whistle for "I have enough money to afford travel, so don't bother if you don't have that kind of money."
13:04 should have rolled for rush delivery.
I think for it to be a hobby it's less to do with the ability to perform or fulfill the hobby, but rather the desire to do it and being able to find enjoyment in a certain activity. Like yeah I really like rock climbing but I'm not able to go out and do it currently. I'd still consider it a hobby even if I can't do it, because I still have that desire to go rock climb.
It's with this logic that allows people to also do things frequently without it necessarily being a hobby. Like, you could travel for work frequently enough to have rewards cards with hotels, but not really enjoy doing it. I don't think that's a hobby.
I rap as a hobby, because I dont get paid to.
Jeez. You had do much luck and the damage still scaled so poorly
My opinion: even with this almost perfect ideal setup, Charged Skewer seems underwhelming.
with this whole hobby discussion, i had to check whether i was watching an old vid. major deja vu 😂 unfortunately it left me once more feeling very judged… i seem to be a super boring person with no real hobbies. 😅 oh well. it's ok, I am still enjoying my time
