  1. I personally feel the side scrolling nature fits way better to roguelikes, not that Hades is bad in anyway at all but I've really not been able to gravitate to it at all like I did with Dead Cells, I think the gameplay and combat is just on another level.

  2. You didnt even mention how many affixes the weapons Dead Cells have, which is a HUGE part of the game. Having them syngerize with one another makes it much more interesting, plus you can re-roll them.

  3. In Dead Cells 0BC is the tutorial. The real game beginns in in 2BC. And from there it is a steep cliff to climb to get to the next BC. Each BC changes the gameplay dramatically in making the game harder. The great thing is: the devs take you on through this yourney step by step. After 100 hours i was able to beat 2BC and boy did it felt good to see this f.. hotk finally drop dead. Now its 3BC and i have to work out a build to clear bioms and beat bosses at the same time. They build it with love. Love for people who like to push to their limits. Love for people to git gud.

  4. As a Nehack player I really enjoy to see how I’m going to die each run. I makes me play more. In Dead Cells it’s just frustrating and boring. I hate this feeling.

  5. I prefer dead cells since making different build on different runs is very fun to me even crap weapons can be used to be op if you have the right things or use them right since even the weapons that sound the same it has a niche change that changes the weapon and dead cells has a story but in environmental story telling and the more you look around the better you feel or enjoy
Kinda why I like the different builds of payday 2 now I think about it

  6. I never felt like I was getting penalized for unlocking weapons in dead cells, it is quite the opposite. I always felt like I was getting more variety and new ways to play the game. And you CAN remove the weapons without getting rid of achievements, they only get removed if you leave less than 20(there are more than 100, so you really don’t deserve achievements if you don’t even have 20)

  7. Nice video. Both are amazing games though they play very differently in a lot of ways. The unlocking of weapons in dead cells and punishing for trying new playstyles as you mention was on the things that made it a worse game for me. I wanted to try weapons but I also knew that I didn't want to use them often so I could try them without punishing myself? It is kind of a backwards mechanic.

I like the desert island comparison. If I couldn't play any other game ever, dead cells might be a better choice since there is such a high skill cap and mastery needed for higher level boss cells, but just going off of my own play time, it has to Hades ahead for me.

  8. I feel dead cells has more depth if you becomes good player and understand how the game works. Like you can work hard enough to master the combat and get hit less victory run. You can use custom mode to limit item pools to test out builds. Speaking of builds, there so many combinations of weapons and skills you can put together for different runs. You can play different styles, like dual weapons, weapon and shield, dual binding of weapons. You can also go different routes to face different bosses. Even I beat 5bc (hardest difficulty) many times, I still replaying the game trying to beat it with different builds. Hades on the other hand, I stopped playing once I beat it couple of times and completed the storyline.

  9. 5 BC player on deadcells here, i recently started playing hades and its a great game, i agree with the points you made in general except the weapons thing, you dont get punished for lowering the weapons pool as long as its above a certain treshhold, for example ive had runs where i wanted a really specific combination so in the types the weapons fit in i only chose those and then the types i wouldnt be choosing i chose my faves and i could still unlock achievements, both games are good, but right now my preference is in deadcells because the progression in hades feels a bit too slow for my taste, still loved every minute of it tho
