ERB Matchup Reaction: Hades vs Lucifer

Hades vs Lucifer! The Greek God of the Underworld vs the personification of evil. Could this be a fun ERB or is simply a hellish idea?

  1. Hades, aside from his one episode of kidnapping, is generally a decent person, as far as the Olympians(offspring of the Titans) go. He's not a malicious or malevolent entity, he doesn't kill people he manages the souls of the dead. The Moirai are the ones determining mortal lifespans, and psychopomps like Hermes and Thanatos act as escorts from the mortal plane to the hereafter, where Hades examines how they lived their lives and sends them off to the Elysian Fields for exceptional heroism, the pits of Tartarus for immense villainy, or the Styx for having lived a life devoid of either extreme. Lucifer, on the other hand, is a totally separate entity from "Satan" as the character is often depicted. He, Lucifer, is not the warden of hell, but it's first and greatest prisoner, subject to torments by an agent of divine punishment(that'd be Satan) for his attempt to usurp God's throne and assume control of the universe. Lucifer is supposed to be this, impossibly beautiful creature, greatest among all the angels, who was consumed by his own hubris after G-man either created or announced the plans to create humanity in Eden. The mythology and lore on both these characters is immensely fascinating once you begin digging into them.

  2. The Batman vs Sir Lancelot

The theme being a dark knight vs a holy knight (aka a white knight)

Plus, this gives ya'll a chance to make up for a certain portrayal of Batman… Just saying!

  3. I like this matchup because of how different they are. Lucifer is evil incarnate while Hades is just the burnt out, unappreciated older brother that chills with his wife and dog
