  1. You know it's bad when I look at Hades and OG Megaman X & go "We need a Doom Eternal version of these, just because" 16bit Doomslayer side scroller like Megaman X would be a cool little game.

  2. I think you might just be too good at games. I found Hades really difficult. I can't beat doom eternal on ultra violence. I like hard games, but man, you beat hades the first time after just a couple days of play? Jesus

  3. Since you asked: I feel like the progression based devision on what is roguelike and roguelite, which became prevalent because of the Game Maker's Toolkit video, is wrong. See none of these games have literally no meta progress that is saved between the runs, there are still achievement based progress, unlocks or, for example, shortcuts in Spelunky. And there is, to me, not that much difference between direct upgrades and other forms of progression in these games, because no matter what mechanic is used, the goal is still to give you the ability to change all of your future runs through your actions on the current one. So call me pedantic or old-fasioned but for me roguelike is still supposed to be a turn-based procedurally generated rpg on a grid.

  4. People who whine about feeling like your progress comes from upgrades and not personal skill;
    There is literally an entire fucking story arc for maxing out the mirror and then turning off all the power you get from it and doing runs without upgrades
    You got better, stupid, and part of what you got better at was choosing good boon combos.

  5. Love your works, man. Definitely agree with you on your opinion on combat in games. I really am not of fan of beating bosses just cuz I got more damage buffs than in my first few tries. I prefer games with meaningful upgrades that don't really turn me into an OP character. I like games that make me think during combat and let me beat boss fights and enemies because I understood their movement patterns and attacks. Also, love that DOOM insert. HAHAHAH. Brilliant.
