ABOUT THE GAME:
Defy the god of the dead as you hack and slash out of the Underworld in this rogue-like dungeon crawler from the creators of Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre.
Hades is a roguelike game from Supergiant Games, creators of Bastion, Transistor and Pyre. You play as Zagreus, immortal son of Hades, on his quest to escape from the underworld, fighting through many angry lost souls along the way. Death is a mere inconvenience for Zagreus, returning to Hades’ palace each time to reflect in the Mirror of Night and try again. Receive Boons from the other gods of Olympus and find treasures to aid in each escape attempt.
ABOUT THE STORY:
Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.
Zagreus has always had a sense that he doesn’t belong in the House of Hades. Sometime before the start of the game he decides, against his father’s will, to escape from the Underworld—no matter how many tries it might take him. He is aided and encouraged in his journey, primarily by his caretaker Nyx and his mentor Achilles. Others outside the House of Hades, such as Sisyphus, Charon, and the Olympians sometimes offer their aid as well.
Zagreus is met with numerous obstacles throughout the realms of Tartarus, Asphodel, Elysium, and the Temple of Styx. He is mostly faced with various aggressive shades working for his father, but he also has run-ins with the Furies (Megaera, Tisiphone and Alecto), the skeletal remains of the Lernean Hydra, and the champion of Elysium, Theseus, and his friend, Asterius, in order to arrive at the Temple of Styx. These battles, combined with the dangerous landscape of the Underworld, serve to bring a painful end to Zagreus’s escape attempts sooner or later.
