Hades is a roguelike action role-playing video game developed and published by Supergiant Games. It was released for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2020, which followed an early access release from December 2018.

Players control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld to reach Mount Olympus, at times aided by gifts bestowed on him from the other Olympians. Each run challenges the player through a random series of rooms populated with enemies and rewards. The game has a hack and slash combat system; the player uses a combination of their main weapon attack, dash power, and magic ability to defeat them while avoiding damage to progress as far as possible. While Zagreus will often die, the player can use gained treasure to improve certain attributes or unlock new weapons and abilities to improve chances of escaping on subsequent runs.

  1. Yay, bow tips, the weapon I do the best with!

Don't dismiss the dash strike on the bow! For your bow, however, it's not super relevant. There is a pretty important difference to the normal attack that I didn't discover until much later. It charges the standard attack faster than drawing from a standstill. This is VERY important for the hidden bow aspect later in the game (my fav weapon, since I basically use the bow as a melee weapon anyway.)

My first good run in Hades was actually due to the bow's volley (special), but it's because I force the bow to be played as a melee weapon. The volley does like 10 damage per shot, and fires a good amount of shots. If you just stand on the enemy, suddenly that just becomes 'hit the enemy with a ton of tiny hits'. Granted, this is pretty risky and gets me hit a lot, but I always gravitate to 'what's the biggest damage in my situation, ignore all risks, it's my fault if I don't play good enough.'

Ares' doom procs on standard bow volley are actually pretty good for how you use the bow. Since the volley is good at tapping a ton of enemies with minimal damage, it's pretty good to change 'tap minor damage' to 'do ~70 damage on anything tapped'

Same as you guys, I don't really use the gun as much. I did discover that for the speedrun, it's by far the highest damage, but I hate how it controls 🙁
