Guan Yu Special SLAPS | Hades | #98

Hades is a roguelike action role-playing video game developed and published by Supergiant Games. The game was released for Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2020, which followed an early access release from December 2018. Players control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld to reach Mount Olympus, at times aided by gifts bestowed on him from the other Olympians. Each run challenges the player through a random series of rooms populated with enemies and rewards, and the player uses a combination of their main weapon attack, dash power, and magic ability to defeat them while avoiding damage to progress as far as possible. While Zagreus will often die, the player can use gained treasure to improve certain attributes or unlock new weapons and abilities to improve chances of escaping on subsequent runs.

  1. Life Affirmation from Aphrodite is really a must with this weapon, but you have to get it early. That paired with Nourish Soul from Demeter helps a lot. Btw, that first Meg call made me lol so hard Playing the lyre enough times lets you learn to play it properly, which finishes a fate task.

  2. Hey Pally! Great vid as always, love watching you play Hades! I don't know if that's what you meant about the acorn, but there's actually a little number right beneath it, that goes down when you absorb a hit! 😀

  3. rolling away the Athena room hurt so much :'( Merciful End is SOOO GOOD for Doom builds, which you seem to like a lot, and you've never tried it, go for it Pally!

As always thanks a ton for the content!

  4. Hey Pally,
just to clear up this misunderstanding: damage to armor does nothing to help with shields, if they block you deal 0 damage, no matter how much dmg to armor you have. The reason why the daedalus hammer upgrade for the fists is so good against the shield guys is not the armor dmg (although that helps, too), but because it has "attacks pierce foes", which goes straight through their shield
You actually figured that out in an earlier episode, too ^.^ but I guess with all the different games you are playing etc, some information is lost again along the way ;P

still loving your videos man, thanks for the entertainment <3

  5. The "massive spin" boon that you passed up on the first hammer is such a great upgrade. It allows the spin to hit enemies more times and more easily, while doubling the damage it does as well.
Getting the aspect to lvl 5 is a massive improvement as well. At lvl 2 Zag has a third of normal HP, at lvl 5 it's half – that's a 50% increase.

  6. Pally still doesn’t understand what Dire Misfortune does. 🤦🏼‍♂️ The damage one Doom application does is increased based on how many “extra” times doom would have been applied between the first application and the damage.

So say you hit an enemy once with a doom attack, and then doom does 100 damage. If you instead hit the same enemy three more times with a doom ability between the initial application and the damage, and say Dire Misfortune adds 10, then that doom instance would instead deal 100 + 3*10 = 130 damage.

Each instance of doom damage is independent of the other instances of damage the enemy has taken, so if that enemy is later hit once and left alone until doom hits, it’ll deal 100 damage
