  1. Ares's Blade Dash is one of the better dash boons imo. The multiple types of Blade Rift buffs you could get are so good, and can carry you through a run sometimes. It's not as useful as Athena's Divine Dash, but most boons have a hard time matching up to Divine Dash either way.

  2. I'm disappointed Patroclus didn't get the chance to completely fail to react to Artemis' keepsake so we could see Dan's reaction. Though I guess there's still a decent chance we'll get to see him next week.

I was also hoping for Dan to notice the healing from the Frost Fair Blade's vampire spin attack, but it's very on brand that he didn't. It's the single weapon aspect I feel is most important to upgrade fully before trying to use – most aspects are no worse than vanilla, even if they're not great until they get more investment.

I'm not 100% certain on the Lyre's exact requirements, and you can get some unique dialogue from Orpheus at certain points in your development, but the main thing it needs is lots and lots and lots of practice – once per run isn't going to get there any time soon, but putting some time in off-camera would let you get there if you really want to.

And if you're aiming for a bad build, Cursed Slash is definitely not the way to start out – yes, the reduced life/healing is a significant handicap, but the vampire on standard attacks is pretty great, and, used properly, it's possibly the single best upgrade in the game.

  3. I don't get it. The "bad" build is +all damage dealt, -all damage taken, healing on attacks, and a chain-Deflect Special? besides missing some hp boosts, this was among the most coherent builds yet

  4. Dan, 58 minutes into the health regen run: "I am getting health back this way. I should be using it more". Too bad the Spear never had that chance.

I however, DO NOT like that spear. I am fine getting it to Hades, but can not, for the life of me beat him with it.

I feel like if Dan had trusted this build earlier, I mean, back in Asphodel he could´ve made it all the way trough. That regen sword boon is surprisingly good.

  5. Boons are nice but plying well is better. Plus healing can easily make up for the OCCASIONAL mistake. P.S. I disagree with a lot of what you call "worst" if you allowed yourself the ability boons that sword run would have been a breeze even if every other choice was the "worst".

  6. You have to practice the lyre, Zag will eventually get better at it but it is a LOT of interactions you need to get batter.
its like 100-200 interactions. You can spam it enough times and you will then advance a step after every run.

  7. Whilst the thought is here and in case he doesn't realise in the video,
The spin attack on that special aspect for the spear heals 1 or 2 health (I forget which) every time it hits an enemy.
So I learnt doing that whenever low on health and consistently keeping good distance was the best strategy with this weapon

  8. The change rooms you get once per run if you don't upgrade, and the guy to get upgrades forms let's you get more from picking up keys (or with gems you get money, purple gives you +5 health to your max health)
I recommend getting those upgrades in house of hades

  9. I'll tell you what Erebus is, so spoilers if you don't want to know, but you should probably know before spending that diamond:

Erebus is a chamber, kinda like Chaos, where you find a primordial God and can get his blessings, which are really good… But with Erebus, to get his blessing you have to beat the chamber WHITHOUT BEING HIT EVEN ONCE. So… Big bet there…

  10. Also, you probably didin't see it, but there were music notes comming out of the papers by Orpheus. I don't suppose that could have anything to do learning how to play the Lyre in your room, could it? (I legit don't know, but… worth a try, amiright?)

  11. Oh Dan I saw an interview with the lead animator for SuperGiant the other week. The reason only Cerberus' left most head likes pets is that it was the only way they could figure out how to animate it without the sprites overlapping

  12. Sorry Dan, but the Fated Authority rerolls are per run. The good news is you can cause keys to give you more rerolls, even beyond whatever number you start with from the mirror.
I think Guan Yu's aspect strongly highlights differences in style. With such consistently low HP you really can't tank at all and should be relying a lot more on defensive movement. Dan (and honestly it seems like most youtubers I follow) likes to get tanky.
You want a recent example of bad choices? I selected the gun with the Eris aspect, which empowers you for a few seconds if you stand in the bomb explosion. Hammer out the gate offered me: larger bomb explosion with self-damage, rocket bombs, or the shotgun modification. I actually spent several minutes staring at that collection trying to figure out which gods I'd offended.

  13. Sorry to backseat game, but you missed a convo with Skelly in the beginning. He’s probably the best character to miss a convo with since he’s always there so it seemingly won’t be long till you get another chance to have it but now we know if Skelly has something to say don’t kill him cuz it gets rid of his dialogue option.

  14. The lyre and seat texts were funny. Spoil yourself with some lovely extra furniture.

I enjoyed the experimental nature of this episode. I think the objective of taking the worst option was hard, because none of them are actually super bad, but a bad combo was certainly achieved.

I liked how no pressure to get out made it more relaxed, but I think bad boons might make playing it less fun? It might be your tendency to play optimally and this went really against that.

  15. Gotta say I'm not especially entertained by this "bad choices" gimmick, especially considering
    A) This game is very well balanced and as a result every boon is useful in at least some regard
    B) It seems to have been combined, deliberately or otherwise, with bad play (seriously, not using the life-stealing move on either weapon you had one for?)
If I wanted to see someone suck at this game, I'd play it myself.
