Hades was released on PC and Switch in 2020 and is developed by Supergiant Games.
Hades follows the story of Zagreus, son of Hades, Lord of the Underworld and his many attempts to escape his father’s domain in search of his mother, Persephone. Along his journey he is aided by the Gods of Olympus, some in The House of Hades and others who have their own intentions in mind. Steeped in Greek mythology, Hades boasts a rich story and a splendid cast of characters with an immense amount of fully voiced dialogue.
the game is a roguelike or rogue-lite. Zagreus will die many times and the story and characters weave the gameplay mechanics into the tale being told. Fast paced action with multiple weapons and myriads of ways to rebuid Zagreus for each run ensure that you will be returning to the house, petting the three headed guard dog and heading back out to try and escape again and again and still find something new.
Supergiant Games has knocked it out of the park with this one. Hades is the highest rated and most well reviewed indy title of 2020 and was the recipient of multiple game of the year awards. It is a truely marvelous experience and another stunning jewel in Supergiant’s already jewel studded crown.
