  1. I remember thinking that the shield special was good when I started, too. "It's so safe and deals damage to multiple enemies! This has to be the best move in the game!"

And then you realize the base damage is 15, and you can't actually do damage while it's in the air.

  2. As a player of hades since beta and final boss was the one in asphodel, here are some tips after watching some of the vod on twitch,

Be offensive with the shield, it’s defence generates great mid combo damage blocks and you can tank the whole game.

Boons are at a priority but deadalus hammer always comes first, if no boons are present go for keys early game and forget them until lateg game farming. Darkness is always good above keys but below coins. Always go for coins if darkness and keys are the other option. Gems are worthless to get early as you barely get any and should wait for a late game upgrade where completed bosses drop gems.

Gates of darkness are good early in a layer of hell but horrid late near the end of one

The first layer of hell is 13 rooms and will have a chairon shop at the end. Count to 12 and always go to the shop if you are over 150 for a boon otherwise go to the other door if available to get a free item and no money spent.

Meg you need to be agressive as distance will fuck you over in the end because her range and ability cross map snipe you is bullshit.

Always check wells for health items and or noon rarity upgrades and extra death defiance’s.

Always speek to people when you die to progress the story and not end up like me having to do 20 runs to wear out dialogue for a quest.
The sword is crazy broken with good positioning and extra stuff that’s spoilers.

Get every weapon and learn them all because each one can clear the whole game sub 15 if you play good enough.

Give everyone a ambrosia and then pick either Meg,skelly, dusa,Achilles or a special friend in Tartarus to gain access to special items.
You are really good for being new to the game good job buddy

  3. Pleeeeease tell me that Ross plays more! I've not had too much interest in Hades before, but watching Ross had me super enthralled the whole time. I doubt I'd enjoy it as much if I played it on my own, so it'd be nice to see more of it from Ross

  4. FYI Ross, Heracles is the actual name of the Greek hero, Hercules is actually the Roman version of Heracles but the confusion is understandable because Disney called their version of Heracles, Hercules for some reason.

  5. i dont know if anyone mentioned past saying that heracles and hercules are the same person, but hercules is actually the roman name, whereas the greek name is heracles, which is actually really nice to see that the people who made Hades as a game really payed attention to mythos and lore when writing up the story :))

  6. To answer your question at 44:11 in case it wasn't answered during the stream, yes and no. You're still in the underworld, but in Greek mythology, the underworld wasn't just the equivalent to hell, it was the entire afterlife. Their hell equivalent is Tartarus, the first area you play through, whereas Elysium, where you were when you asked the question, is kind of like a cross between heaven and Valhalla, so despite being radically different ways to spend the afterlife, they're both contained within Hades domain, the underworld

  7. Hades has a laurel wreath on his head and I just wanna say that's more of roman cultural thing related to martial success such as commanders after winning a war and gladiators while hades is the name of the Greek god not the roman god pluto. Just to say… I'ma fuck off and die alone but yeah I'll be upset while I do that lol.

  8. I don't know if I should be annoyed he is wasting a avenue of damage by always standing so far away from every target or happy he is playing it safe. I feel like if he actually did it properly he wouldn't survive. Idk I feel like that there explosive return is wasted but then again maybe not? I mean it doesn't do a lot for the boss bot it probably saved him leading up to the bosses? Idk I guess I'm missing a lot on the edit.

  9. Watching Ross discover Hades = perma-grin for 50 minutes (except the anguish when ya walked away from the purple fountain with almost no health left, though I probably did the same when I first played).

Also super interesting to see what they've done with the very beginning of the game – I started my only save game back in alpha, and that entire intro section was different, so this was a cool way to see how some stuff has evolved.
Extremely well done. That's a hell of a lot of progress for the first few runs.

    Edit: shield goes brrrrrrrrrrrrr
