Hades is a brand new rogue-like indie game by developer Super Giant that has taken the gaming community by storm and changed the way many have looked at the development of games, especially rogue-likes! Playing as Zagreus, son of Hades and Prince of the Underworld, we are trying to escape from the underworld because we want to know what exists beyond the netherworld that all the souls are trapped inside. Hades forbids that he leaves and calls upon the help of various residents of the underworld, like Megaera, to stop him from leaving.

This let’s play is going to be a walkthrough that’s fun, informative, and discussion based. It will be edited well and high quality!

  1. Fun fact: While the etymology is disputed, scholars have suggested that Cerberus comes from the ancient Greek word for "spotted".
Which means Hades named his giant three-headed hellhound Spot.

  2. Personally a big fan of roguelikes and roguelites, despite the frustration you can experience of losing on a good build, knowing the chances of getting it again the same way are very very slim, but you can always discover better 😀
Some offer infinite replayability, but frankly Hades has pushed the standard a step further ♥

  3. "The Olympians are pleased to know they have a distant relative, and bid him welcome to their mountain."
Minor spoilers, though nothing you couldn't have guessed if you're familiar with the Greek pantheon:

Um, Nyx, you and I must have different definitions of "distant", because I wouldn't exactly consider "nephew/great-nephew/grandson of Zeus" to be particularly distant. (Yes, Zeus would be Zagreus's uncle [via Hades], grandfather [via Persephone], and great-uncle […also via Persephone].)

  4. CQOTD: I haven't really played any rogue like games before, but might consider playing Hades. Really like the Greek Mythology setting its going for. Also the Roman God of War is known as Mars. Learnt all this from reading the Percy Jackson books.

  5. 19:45 There hasn't been any hinting that they've been in a relationship before i think
They just live in the same house and tolerate each other, they're more "siblings" (although not really) than anything, Meg is just super grumpy

  7. I love roguelikes. When I first started playing this in September, I said this was my favorite roguelike since Isaac, and at this point I think it's my all time favorite. I don't think any roguelike has ever put this much depth into the gameplay systems, the lore and worldbuilding, and how those two interact. I absolutely love it. Excited to see you play it 🙂

  8. I started playing this the other day.

    It's great!

Oh and I'm super late to this, but I've played my share of roguelikes/roguelites including Spelunky (original + HD), Binding of Isaac, and Enter the Gungeon. But my favorite roguelike is probably Crypt of the Necrodancer. Its gameplay loop just appeals to me personally in so many ways, so much so that I've sunk over 1500 hours into it trying to get every achievement or just messing around with mods. No regrets!
