  1. If It’s True is one of my absolute favorites, it didn’t totally catch me the first listen but I absolutely love it now, it’s insanely underrated. Seeing it live is makes it hit so much harder too

  2. I love 'How Long' so much. Hades and Persephone are so humanized for much of the show that this song, in which their power and immortality and godhood suddenly smacks the audience in the face, is just goosebump-raising for me. It's a great big icy bucket of frigid-cold "Oh, these are deities and they are old " over the head, y'know?

  3. If Its True used to be a song I skipped on listen throughs that I maybe only fully listened to once or twice. It is not one of my favorite musical theater songs of all time, and I regret not giving a chance sooner. Reeve was really good, but I didn't appreciate the song fully until I heard it with the pure power and emotion Jordan Fisher brought to the role.

  4. I know you've probably already recorded it, but I really hope you did the version of "Chant 2" that is most complete. There's a version that has Hades' and Persephone's verses but not the workers, a version that has Hades and the workers but not Persephone, and a version that has all three. I hope you reacted to the version with all three, it is by far the best one.

  5. If you're looking for a future Greek Myth musical, may I suggest Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical? It's a video game musical about figures from Greek mythology in the modern era

  6. The look of shock and fear as Persephone says "the Earth must die" never gets old. It really brings her role as a Goddess back into perspective in such a great way.

This last chunk of songs are really my favorite of Hadestown I think (and that's saying a lot, because I love just about EVERY song of this musical. So excited for your next video!!

  7. Interesting analysis as always – I never actually noticed the musical parallels between "How Long" and other songs in the show! I see others mentioning the West End cast, but if you haven't yet, I'd absolutely check out the version of "If It's True" from the new "Hadestown: Live From London" album. The album itself is frustratingly incomplete, but Dónal Finn gives an absolutely jawdropping performance of my favourite song in the show.

  8. For our musical this year, we are lucky enough to do Hadestown, which has been my favorite musical since I first listened to it in 2021. I somehow managed to get cast as Persephone and the song I’m most excited about performing is How Long simply for the character moments within the song. How it humanizes Hades and puts their crumbling love into perspective as well as drawing more parallels between the two couples that get further explored in Epic III. It’s just one of my favorite underrated songs from this musical.

Act II of this show is my favorite and this stretch of songs is amazing. I can’t wait to see your reactions to the upcoming songs!!
