Hades | The Hidden Shield Aspect | #61

Hades is a roguelike action role-playing video game developed and published by Supergiant Games. The game was released for Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch on September 17, 2020, which followed an early access release from December 2018. Players control Zagreus, the son of Hades, as he attempts to escape from Underworld to reach Mount Olympus, at times aided by gifts bestowed on him from the other Olympians. Each run challenges the player through a random series of rooms populated with enemies and rewards, and the player uses a combination of their main weapon attack, dash power, and magic ability to defeat them while avoiding damage to progress as far as possible. While Zagreus will often die, the player can use gained treasure to improve certain attributes or unlock new weapons and abilities to improve chances of escaping on subsequent runs.

  1. Hey man hope you had a great charity stream, but you talked about 2 hours and 5 hours of Hades you played on stream, could you upload those to YouTube to? I really want to see that. thanks any way 🙂

  2. I use Stubborn Roots all the time but I play this very differently than you. Unless I'm using a ranged weapon I put way less emphasis on dodging enemies and learning fights that's a sucker's game. Nothing really does much to me until I get to Hades anyways these days so I make no effort to preserve my death defiances once I'm there and it ends up saving me in the unlikely event I do use early death defiances since I just play keep away with Hades until my health regens

  3. No pressure bro, but I'd like to see a revenge run. I know there is a boon that sets off your revenge effects every x amount of seconds. Would really like to see if that is viable. Like I said though, no pressure. That might be a RNJesus type of run, so I'm not expecting it.

  4. The Athena/Demeter duo would be pretty useful with Stubborn Defiance (the yellow variant of DD, only regenerates 30% of HP, but resets after each room instead of a fixed number per run).
Basically, it ensures that you finish each room with a full HP bar, completely negating attrition).
It could be even better with something like Cursed Slash or Guan Yu's spear, but I'm not sure how the HP regen would be affected by those two

  5. 29:48 interesting interaction is that ravenous will works if you load all your casts in the shield. So you can just load them and have perma damage resist and bonus damage. In fact I think it's the reason why you take 10% more damage with this shield. To even this out.

  6. @mfpallytime my dude… why always the hate on ravenous will? Everytime you load up your christals in the shield you get the dmg buff.. try it next time! Still love the content, LET'S GOO!!

  7. I think you missed an opportunity with Demeter's Ravenous Will boon that increases damage done and decreases damage taken when you are out of casts. I believe (needs testing) that this is active when you have your casts loaded into your shield, and it definitely would have been active while your blade rifts were out dealing damage. As for speed of the shield itself, I found the double-hit hammer upgrade is great for that, or alternatively going for a dash-and-smash Poseidon build (as you mentioned earlier) but that slows down against bosses.

  8. We're 61 episodes in so I'm a bit surprised I have to tell you this, but there's a moveset list on the top left of the screen whenever you pick a new weapon in the courtyard. It literally shows you what your weapon can do…
