Love this video and some people are messing around with you lol 😂😂😂😂😂
I’ve thought about hades 0 times this week
honestly I don't get it either, they have a good myth that has retelling potential but the hype is so big and I just don't understand why?!
Caus theres a really good video game about him
Tumblr, the very little information we have about Hades and A LOT of projection! Hades doesn't look that bad on paper compared to his brothers and nephews (granted, the bar is in Tartarus): a mostly faithful husband that seems to be ok with his wife being powerful, and in a world were no one seems to want to compromise and "alpha male" BS is rampant, he seems like a catch. Also, Helios literally said that he was the best husband that Persephone could hope for in the Hymn
Then the projection started: Tumblr create this narrative of him like a faithful goth husband ala Gomez Adams, romanticize the ugly parts (the kidnapping and possible SA) and project their own mommy issues on Demeter by mistaking her overprotective behavior as controlling. Mix that wi the fact that we also know very little about Persephone's personality and you have the perfect self incert to live like a innocent flower girl/terrifying goth queen fantasy
I'd say it's almost certainly because of the video game of the same name because the way the characters are written in it is so popular.
Someone had to say this! Thank you!
Near as I can tell there's a fascination with anything that deals with the underworld/death. Consider the fascination with making vampires romantic, somehow that happened. But they're undead and if they give you the famous "kiss"? You'll live forever, too! Woohoo!…only you'll have to kill people (big sadz) but we'll deal with that in some tripe series where vampires sparkle or whatever. I think that's it, I don't share the interest, but I think that's the everlasting genesis for
Anyway, yea, I think you're 100% correct: hearing the Hades/Persephone myth once is largely sufficient. I don't re-read it like the Iliad and find nuances I hadn't seen before. Or find myself thinking about moments in the Iliad when prompted by some random event in real life.
Hades more like hay deez nuts
