Hades II is a sequel game to Hades currently in development by Supergiant Games. The main playable character will be Melinoë, immortal Princess of the Underworld, daughter of Hades and sister of Zagreus.
Hades II is a rogue-like dungeon crawler in which you’ll battle beyond the Underworld of Greek myth using dark sorcery to take on the sinister Titan of Time. Our studio’s first-ever sequel builds on the best aspects of the award-winning original in an all-new, action-packed, endlessly replayable experience rooted in the Underworld of Greek myth and its deep connections to the dawn of witchcraft.
As the immortal Princess of the Underworld, you’ll explore a bigger, deeper mythic world, vanquishing the forces of the Titan of Time with the full might of Olympus behind you, in a sweeping story that continually unfolds through your every setback and accomplishment. New locations, challenges, upgrade systems, and surprises await as you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld again and again.
Hades is the god of the Underworld and of the mineral riches of the earth, the lord and master of the House of Hades, and the father of Zagreus. He is in charge of maintaining order within the Underworld, determining the placements and punishments of the dead, and hearing the petitions of shades that come before him.
Hades is stern, serious, and dedicated to his work. He is shown, in the Remembrances that play before some escape attempts, to have been strict and often cruel with Zagreus during his childhood. He employed Achilles to teach Zagreus fighting and give him more of a “firm direction in life”. Meanwhile, Hades seems to have left much of the caretaking and raising of Zagreus to Nyx.
Sometime after the events of Hades, he and Persephone manage to conceive a second child-Melinoë.
In Hades II, his father Chronos, the Titan of Time has escaped his imprisonment in the depths of the Underworld and captured Hades. His daughter, Melinoë, has promised to slay the Titan and rescue her father.
While the Hades 2 reveal trailer showcases multiple new gods, Zagreus is conspicuously absent from the sequel’s announcement. Considering Melinoë is Zag’s brother and the sequel continues to focus on their family, it seems likely that the Prince of the Underworld will return in some capacity.
