How HADES Will Destroy ZEUS & Become King of the GODS

Hey everyone, welcome to Mythology Explained. In today’s video, we’re going to discuss how Hades could usurp Zeus and rise to become the new king of Olympus.

I’d like to preface this video by saying that Hades wasn’t an Evil God. In fact, using a contemporary lens, Hades was downright chivalrous and honorable when you compare his romantic pursuits to those of his two brothers, Zeus and Poseidon, both of them prolific philanderers, cajoling, coaxing, and coercing men, women, magical creatures, and goddesses; both of them powerful and predatory gods who only take their own pleasures into account, disregarding notions like consent and virtues like restraint.

As far as I can tell, the dichotomy of good and evil as represented by two diametrically opposed nexus points seems to have been retroactively applied to the Greek pantheon, shaping the portrayal of Greek mythology in popular culture; movies like Disney’s ‘Hercules’ and ‘Clash of the Titans’ portray Zeus as a force for order and good, while Hades is portrayed as evil and covetous. This seems like a direct extension of how good and evil are portrayed in the Judeo-Christian tradition, whereby good and evil are largely conveyed through God and Satan.

Anyway, completely disregarding how the ancient Greeks perceived the lord of the underworld, we’re going to harness today’s disparaging conceptualization of Hades and run through an elaborate scenario in which Hades overthrows Zeus and becomes the new Lord of the Cosmos.

Let’s get into it.

There are three chief factors on which success is predicated: Zeus needs to be overcome, incapacitated, and deposed, the crux of the matter; Poseidon needs to be temporarily contained to preempt him from vying against Hades for the crown in Zeus’ absence; and Hades needs to operate in complete secrecy to insulate himself from any culpability, which will keep the other gods from turning on him after he takes action.

  1. Anybody else consider this false? From my understanding Hades is a pretty neutral god who doesn't care about all the shenanigans his spoiled siblings get up to. He would much rather do his job, love his wife Persephone and play with his dog Cerberus (AKA Spot)

  2. How strong was Hercules(demigod and as god)?
How strong and powerful was Ares?
Why was Zeus so much stronger than the other gods?

Will Zeus and Metis son ever possibly be born?

Is there an end or any possible ending stories to Greek Mythology?

  3. What would make you make something like this? obviously e^i! Is trying to take over the world, so can we please have some better imaginations about these things and write a great finish to this chapter of our story? These are just stories they told that they are trying to make come true, so let's be proactive and write a different ending than what they had planned.

  6. I think that , the Hades , was late , because , of the Perseus , who has already , slew the Atlas . I think , that his helm of darkness , works only , outside of the underworld , and he could reconsider , the pure revenge of mostly Perseus and the Hercules , to avenge it ' s father death , along with 30 – 40 , or 50 – 60 , other offsprings of Zeus , aleading with the Apollo , and the Atena . Which could lead to that , that Persefone , could & would leave him . Why does , he has not even a one son , to put on of a throne of a underworld . I think , that you are mixing the Norse with the , greeks . Because that kind of a situation has been happened , in Thor 2 ; Ragnarök , where , when the Odin , the Allfather , has died , then , the Hela , the imprisoned , goddess of the Norse underworld , held her , uprisal of the power , from the Hellheim to the very , very Asgard himself . Would ' t it be easier , for him to just , to go to the mountain of the Olympus , and just steal the Aegida shield , from the very, very goddess of the Athena , and then used it against , the Zeus , now he ' s got , some of the real chances , to fight , the Zeus , of the very, very Zeus .

  7. Zeus is powerful enough to rival all the other gods, so, i dont think hades could face him Alone, even in the underworld, plus, i dont think he has interest in rule olympus, cause he has been neutral in many eventos since everything

  8. I would LOVE a story where Zeus is dethroned and where he FINALLY gets what he deserved, Hades would definitely be a much better ruler than Zeus, after all out of the 3 brothers he certainly is the most responsible, but honestly, I wouldn't care who were the one to dethrone Zeus as long as he got dethroned for good so that he could Never ruin anybody else's lives, just cut him in pieces and toss him into Tartarus, I'm sure Kronos would enjoy the company.

  9. Interesting threory but Hades is the happiest god. He is happily married with his dog, solid work and he is richest of all the gods. I think more that Hades would think that ruling all the gods would be too annoying.
