Persephone story was always a story about mother and daughter. It’s not a love story and people need to separate their modern interpretations from the original versions of this tragic story.
P.s there is no real version of the story where Persephone voluntarily goes to the underworld with hades. There are versions where she was kidnapped by him, and there are versions where hades doesn’t even exist but known where she voluntarily goes and Hades exists.
For those who don’t understand Demeter is the mother of Persephone and hades kidnapped Persephone and tried to force her to marry him Demeter was very depressed and stopped letting the crops grow so zues stepped in and told Hermes to deliver a letter to hades saying “Let her go”
in the myth, Demeter was actually impressive, because of her, all the greenery withered. Meaning without her, humanity would perish, and by extent, the deities that relied on their worship.
