ABOUT THIS GAME

Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.
BATTLE OUT OF HELL
As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.
UNLEASH THE FURY OF OLYMPUS
The Olympians have your back! Meet Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, and many more, and choose from their dozens of powerful Boons that enhance your abilities. There are thousands of viable character builds to discover as you go.

BEFRIEND GODS, GHOSTS, AND MONSTERS
A fully-voiced cast of colorful, larger-than-life characters is waiting to meet you! Grow your relationships with them, and experience thousands of unique story events as you learn about what’s really at stake for this big, dysfunctional family.
BUILT FOR REPLAYABILITY
New surprises await each time you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld, whose guardian bosses will remember you. Use the powerful Mirror of Night to grow permanently stronger, and give yourself a leg up the next time you run away from home.
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE
Permanent upgrades mean you don’t have to be a god yourself to experience the exciting combat and gripping story. Though, if you happen to be one, crank up the challenge and get ready for some white-knuckle action that will put your well-practiced skills to the test.

SIGNATURE SUPERGIANT STYLE
The rich, atmospheric presentation and unique melding of gameplay and narrative that’s been core to Supergiant’s games is here in full force: spectacular hand-painted environments and a blood-pumping original score bring the Underworld to life.

  1. Great video with useful comments section. Very informative indeed. It would have be awsome if you can share the ideal keepsake build for an entire run, mentioning which ones to use for each rank. Thanks

  2. A few additional notes from my personal experiences. These are 100% subjective and you may disagree.

Lambent Plume: I'd argue this is a mostly defensive keepsake and should've been part of the first section of this vid. The dodge is effectively mitigation. Imagine it'll be in Part 2 with god-stuff.

Lucky Tooth: Has additional synergy with Ares builds that run Blood Frenzy (Bonus damage) and I believe Athena builds that run Deathless Stand (Longer Impervious). Not 100% on the latter

Myrmidon Bracers: Highly situational combo, but with the fist you can get sturdy while attacking. When attacking you're always looking at your primary target. You simply don't try to dodge and instead simply tank the hits. Works well with Athena attack to help mitigate projectiles (especially from final boss).

Harpy Feather Duster: It's extremely useful on the first few clears. At this point you tend to have no or low healing and you aren't yet under time pressure from Tight Deadline. Demeter can buff the items as well.

Evergreen Acorn: The 5 hits usually equate to more health on a late-game bossfight than the tooth's 100hp. This becomes even more true at higher heat levels where you might choose Hard Labour or Lasting Consequences, both of which make Tooth less valuable while Acorn doesn't care about.

"First spoiler keepsake": triggers a lot in styx

"Second spoiler keepsake": Try it with Hestia Rail & Smouldering Air Duo. It slaps.

  3. I really like Pom Blossom to create a sort of random run. Instead of forcing a god and a build from the get go, I get Pom Blossom and let RNG figure out the run's direction. You usually get 2 poms out of it as the reward for not forcing a god upfront. Plus the god you do get is still forceable later on to finish the build.

  4. Sigil of the Dead is S tier for Rama's bow, because, especially in higher heat, it allows you to actually pull the bow string back before something interrupts you. I haven't used it on anything else. Just my opinion though!

  5. That`s a very good tutorial Paul, thanks! I always try to learn something about the game, but 99% of the "guides" and "tutorials" are just someone runing the whole game. Half an hour each "tutorial". This one was really nice!

  6. For me I'd say I find the Pom Blossom to be an easy S tier.

My general playstyle across 80% of my runs is I take the coin purse as my first keepsake and utilize golden touch in the mirror to hoard gold early (I also use Sisyphus companion). I tend to come out of Tartarus only having roughly 2-3 boons cause I'm chasing gold and by using fated persuasion I can usually force something that scales well with extra pom levels. When I switch to the Pom Blossom in Asphodel it tends to hit what I want it to hit quite often with my limited boons, I'll admit its less good late when you have a ton of boons and it occasionally hits something you don't care about at all, but it randomly hits something useful often enough I just keep it on till the end of the run.

I try to think of the Blossom's worth in terms of gold value and each time it upgrades something I'm like what would I have paid for that upgrade it gave me and more often than not its a substantial enough amount that I think it justifies being used over most other keepsakes.

For people who stream this game a ton and always tend to be forcing particular duo boons or legendary boons that are broken I get why they don't like this a ton, but for the more casual experienced player who just roll with the punches it seems like a great choice.

  7. Sure, bringing an % boon from lvl 5 to 6 is not that effective, but I don't know about you guys, but I get my boons at level 1. the first few levels are substantial increases, so pom blossom is excellent in the first bioms. setting happy feather duster at A is very questionable, it slows down your run and it is luck based if you get much healing out of it or not. same is true for the bone hourglass. it can be extremely good, but chances are that you don't get the boon your looking for and wasting all your rerolls for a temporary buff is hardly a good strategy. but the biggest bullshit in the video is rating cerberus collar at tier C. it's not just 50 health, if you still have all your death defiances, it's 125 health, making it stronger than lucky tooth.

  8. I totally don't understand why you rate the tooth S tier which gives you +100 health and the collar C tier when it gives you +50 health and +25 for every death defiance you have which makes up for a max of +125 health.
An extra death defiance might have some synergies, but I think having that extra health can help in many more scenarios and the only one that makes the tooth better is when you've already lost 2 death defiances. I actually don't think they're that apart, or maybe I don't understand the thought process.

  9. Collar gives you more HP than tooth if you have 3 DD's up, and the same if you have 2 up. If my damage is solid but my health/defense lacking going into styx, and I have 2+ DD's, I'll take collar over tooth. Collar also synergizes with % healing and DD recharges. Tooth however does have the benefit of negating overkill damage (ie, if you are at 10 HP and hit for 30, you effectively just gained 20 life with tooth). I'd easily put collar at A tier if tooth is S.

  10. I think the Pom is better than you give it credit for, especially if you take it early and you're running only with one boon for a while. Not only does it buff up a bunch of stuff so that it's stronger, I also kind of see it as filling in the power gaps, because you still get to choose where to put REAL poms when you get them. So basically, you sometimes end up with a bunch of really powerful boons that you paid nothing for, or you get an early boon boosted to really high levels before you've even left Tartarus.

  11. I feel like it might have been good to mention that the pom blossom timer ticks down every mini-room in styx – for that reason I find it difficult not to take a lot of the time, 4 or 5 poms is just too tempting

  12. With harpy feather duster you can quite reliably heal for 20 health in a single chapter if there's enough pots in it. You have to get one sandwich before taking the room reward, then go to main menu, go back and break the rest of the pots, repeat until you get the second sandwich.
