Kingdom Hearts 1 FM (PS4): Part 48: Conquering the Entire Hades Cup

Despite going through three Cups that ended with a fight against Hercules, there is a 4th, final Cup themed after his arch-nemesis.

The Hades Cup is a massive, 50-seed Cup that utilizes several bosses and almost every (non-Final Mix exclusive) enemy in the game.
———–

Here’s the rundown of the bosses you’ll face when you first play this cup:

– Yuffie is fought as the 44th seed. Defeating her gives Goofy the Genji Shield.
– Yet another Behemoth shows up as the 40th seed.
– Guard Armor is fought as the 37th seed.
– Stealth Sneak is fought as the 34th seed.
– Cerberus is fought as the 30th seed. Defeating him upgrades your Thundara to Thundaga.
– Cloud & Leon are fought together as the 20th seed. I suggest going after Cloud first because of his faster attacks, but don’t sleep on Leon. Beating them has Leon give Sora the Lionheart keychain.
———-

The arena has a unique, grimdark theme from the 19th seed going forward.

Ironically, Hades isn’t the final boss of his own Cup. You will fight him in the 10th seed.

If his health doesn’t go down while attacking him, don’t fret, he just has THAT much. It will eventually start dropping when you damage him enough.

Be wary of all of his attacks, but your Blizzards can hit him out of some of them.

When he turns red, he has super armor, but he can still be damaged.

Eventually, when Sora beats Hades, he send him back towards the cell, where it sounds like he gets eaten by his own Heartless. Or something…

Beating Hades upgrades Gravira to Graviga.
———-

After fighting through the toughest Heartless from there, the final boss turns out to be the Rock Titan.

This monster is a total pushover compared to all of the previous bosses. You first have to hit his legs to knock him down, and then climb up to his two heads and bash them in, too. On top of this, every single hit is a Tech Bonus.

Winning this wins the Hades Cup, gives Sora his final trophy, and Donald humiliates Hades one last time.

This cup isn’t relevant to the story, though, but then again, neither was Hades himself beyond the preliminaries.

If you lose during the cup, there is some mercy where you can restart from one of the beginning the previous tens of seeds you’ve already cleared.

Also, beating the Hades Cup allows you to repeat it with only Sora, or under a time limit. I’m gonna leave those alone for now, but completing those challenges does give Donald and Goofy the strongest weapons they can get.
———-

Beyond that, there are two dedicated 1v1 matches that Olympus Coliseum also has. I will sooner or later show off what those are about!

  1. the Stealth Sneak here is actually called the Sneak Army. first introduced in the international version, but didn't get a journal entry until Final Mix. the Guard Armor here is also called the Red Armor. just like the Sneak Army, it was first introduced in the international version, first being fought in the Phil Cup individually, and fought fully in the Hades Cup. but didn't get a journal entry until Final Mix.
