Game Description:
Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.
BATTLE OUT OF HELL
As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.
UNLEASH THE FURY OF OLYMPUS
The Olympians have your back! Meet Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, and many more, and choose from their dozens of powerful Boons that enhance your abilities. There are thousands of viable character builds to discover as you go.
BEFRIEND GODS, GHOSTS, AND MONSTERS
A fully-voiced cast of colorful, larger-than-life characters is waiting to meet you! Grow your relationships with them, and experience thousands of unique story events as you learn about what’s really at stake for this big, dysfunctional family.
BUILT FOR REPLAYABILITY
New surprises await each time you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld, whose guardian bosses will remember you. Use the powerful Mirror of Night to grow permanently stronger, and give yourself a leg up the next time you run away from home.
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE
Permanent upgrades mean you don’t have to be a god yourself to experience the exciting combat and gripping story. Though, if you happen to be one, crank up the challenge and get ready for some white-knuckle action that will put your well-practiced skills to the test.
SIGNATURE SUPERGIANT STYLE
The rich, atmospheric presentation and unique melding of gameplay and narrative that’s been core to Supergiant’s games is here in full force: spectacular hand-painted environments and a blood-pumping original score bring the Underworld to life.

The dash damage basically makes the enemies take contact damage during your dash, it is indeed kinda worthless to up that miniscule damage, only really value of the damage is for clearing the small rat swarms.
When you have Artemis Call you literally do double the damage using all 5 pips at once instead of using one pip at a time. This usually true of all the damage dealing calls, so unless you are using the call for utility, like using athena to block an attack, or if have boons designed to enable one pip calls, it's best to save your pips for a greater call.
There is a mechanic that disincentives you from dumping blood into one weapon that is unlocked after the first clear.
you might be already done n in your hades hiaturs; or you might have already done what i’m about to suggest but if not-
for your next time, keep your nektar until you’re back home n give it to either dusa or skelly. they got great rewards that you’ll probably appreciate a lot 🙂
Hammers aren't actually rare, it just that there is scripting that prevents getting too many, you can only getting your second one in Elysium, it fairly common to get 2-4 opportunities to get a hammer before Elysium if you keep refusing them, and if you don't pick up your second hammer in elysium, it always appear in either charon's shop or as a tunnel reward.
Upgrading the special alone is not a trap, it is a perfectly viable strategy you just need the right upgrades. For instants the gun special become more useful against bosses if you have the hammer upgrade that make the special's targeting zone massively slow down enemies.
It's interesting: the sword and the fists support your play style (a lot of dashing/manouvering and high/quick damage) but this game seems to discourage that play style since you are taking a lot of damage per fight. Which is why you end up being more succesful with the shield, which feels like the opposite of how you play e.g. Souls.
The black on his face is definitely harsh shadows, the Cover Art for the game shows no stripe over his face.
Edit: Also regarding Stubborn Defiance, there are ways in Asphodel and Elysium to kill yourself post-fight if you want the heal.
7:53 yup! Especially if you can get extra stones from like Chaos or Artemis. Cast builds definitely can be fun, though they are at their best when you do them with Poseidon Sword or Hera Bow.
I really like aspect mechanic because it basically takes weapons, that all play different as they are, and adds even more complexity to them by making them have different secondary effects depending on which one you are using. It's fun, trying out different ones!
I think "work faster" might have been addressed to wretches xD
That health upgrade would have been free, too, cause there never are enemies in room before boss. If it makes you feel any better, I often do that, too, hoping he might have a boon from specific god I want, and then he doesn't.
I actually find Tisiphone the easiest. Alecto is chaos, though with abusing traps the fight goes much quicker.
I think dash damage is dealt when you slam yourself into the enemy with it. I think.
40:54 they do, yeah. In this game I think I've seen players get even as high as 4k worth of damage per hit.
To me, Malphon is mostly about hit and run. You punch with either attack or special, doesn't matter which, and then dash away or through to avoid and maybe backstab. Plus, both attack and special are equally valid as main attack, especially on this weapon.
Artemis Aid is one that is amazing when you have full gauge. It does a lot at base but then each arrow has a decent chance to crit as well.
42:44 which is why it's good to have at least one additional dash or Hyper Sprint. Makes it way easier to escape in time. Alternatively though, if you know you can't escape the area, you can always try to avoid damage by using dash i-frames.
Crystal Beam is the single best boon you can have for that boss fight. Main head is stationary. It just MELTS.
You will get a visible tracker for which weapons you have rewards with and with which you don't. In the future.
1:03:36 abilities that fill the slot always have the same, recolored icon, always. That's how you know they are going to fill the slot. Also, if you want something in that slot later, it still might be a good idea to fill it anyway. If god offers you an exchange, it gives you the same level you currently have AND upgrades rarity. So if you got an Epic Cast from Demeter but really, really wanted to have Artemis instead, if you got offered Artemis Cast next time, she would give you a Heroic.
Top right flap is just to indicate rarity on the icon, without the need to scroll over to it in your boon collection to see.
Thanatos and Zag considered themselves brothers but yes, it is the impression a lot of people are getting, myself included!
DAMN, you almost had him! That was some real good use of Crystal Beam in this boss fight though!
There is no guarantee when fishing that it will be fake once and then maybe not. The float can go into the water right away and it can twitch several times in a row. Pull the rod not when you see something happening. Do it when you hear that something is going on. You have a clear loud splash sound when the fish grabs it.
If you want one hit wonder aspect, get Hera Bow. This thing is amazing even at level 1, whereas majority of other aspects do need you to invest in them more before they get strong.
A legit strategy is to pick the god trinket that's useful for your weapon to start with. For the fists for example, a Zeus attack buff increases their or exagryphs damage output massively, while hard hitting weapons want aphrodite or demeter most likely. My first escape was attempt #14, you can do it!
52:40min remember a couple pf episodes ago when zagreus asked skelly the exact same thing? n skelly told him to use the invention of pen n paper? yeah, me neither :”D
(but it is honestly not hard to remember. and after you beat hades ones a new system comes into place which will, in fact, tell you exactly which weapon got which reward already etc)
So, one thing I discovered that the game does not tell you is that you can bring up both your "inventory" and your codex book while in the purchase screen. This allows you to look over your stuff and see what boon you may want.
I played with god mode so I only ever lost to Theseus twice but damn am I hoping that you will beat his pompous ass consistently soon. I can't stand that dude
This video sucks because I'm not in it.
The way to tell whether something is a SLOT-FILLING BOON or not (besides just memorising, as you will over time):
If the description begins "Your [attack/special/cast/dash/call] …." then it WILL fill up a slot. Everything else will not.
Exceptions to this rule:
– Hermes boons NEVER fill the slots.
– If something mentions multiple abilities (such as "Your Attack and Cast deal more damage.") then it's obviously not slot specific.
– DUO boons descriptions can also begin like this, but they never fill slots, they're always upgrades.
– Certain upgrade boons also begin like this, but they only appear when you've already filled the slot anyway.
The colored flap is just the rarity 😛 you're overthinking it again
You were right, divine dash getting upgraded was useless both times. It's just the dash contact damage, which is useless anyway, as you get the thing for the deflect not for the tiny contact damage. A common rarity lvl 1 divine dash is as valuable as it gets tbh, every other upgrade sunk into it is waste imo.
Boons that substitute an active attach seem to have a colored triangle at the bottom left, whereas the passive ones have none. At least so I theorize.
Nothing is really known about Zagreus other than he is the son of Hades and Persephone the red eye is a note to Hades has Hades has red eyes the green eye might be note to Persephone though here is wikipedia link about Zagreus enjoy. : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zagreus
Than might be a Tsundere, but he is the only character that is actually fighting for us.
Even Cerberus, the best of boi's, simply let's us pass after we pay a tithe.
Eurydice reminds of that guy in breathe of the wild that can’t cook and has the giants piles of dubious food next to his camp where he’s desperately trying to find some special recipe… idk why.
Two things about encountering Thanatos . First, the fight is almost always going to be stacked for or against you. If you fight lots of weaker enemies with low health, then you can easily clean things up faster than Thanatos. But, if you fight big, beefy enemies, like you did in the encounter in this run, its almost not worth trying because Thanatos can just 9999 them faster than you can tear them down. Better in a case like that to sit back and allow Thanatos to mop things up for you. Second, Thanatos is sort of a gauge by which you can measure the raw damage output of your build when you encounter him. Since he will generally kill enemies at about the same rate every time, seeing how easily you can pull ahead of Thanatos gives you a sense for your overall DPS (as long as you are mindful of the relative toughness of the enemies). It might sound a little confusing, but its something you will get a feel for after enough runs and encounters with Thanatos.
>You have to feed the heads seperately?
We eventually find out that Cerberus [Redacted] so they [Redacted]
>They definitely fucked right? They definitely were a thing.
……is this why I'm bad at relationships? I didn't get it until it was explicitly said.
Also its unfortunate for you that both Thanatos events happened in Big Chariot rooms, I think they are the only enemy that have too much hp to consistently killsteal.
with how varied the style of enemies and bosses, I think its good practice to not ignore upgrading your non "main" attacks, because you often get forced into situations where the main playstyle is very suboptimal for the scenario.
I think you're overvaluing dodge. It's way more important to not get hit in the first place and dashing is better for that. I can't even play the game without the bonus mirror dash.
I don't know if stacking keys right now is good, because you still need darkness to pay for all the new unlocks in mirror.
Spoiler for weapon use:
Exagryph's cluster bomb is fantastic in certain use cases. If you position yourself right on top of your target and fire the special, all five bombs will hit the same spot, and this can actually do massive damage. Exagryph was also my first clear lol so I am partially biased to the weapon.
the boons aren't in a hierarchy. no tree no requirements
the boons you buy from shops are normal, they aren't necessarily basic level
the main boon slot language is always "your attack", "your cast", "your dash", "your special"
the top right flap is to reflect the rarity, its color coded.
your special on the fist hits twice by default, it has 30 base damage. the flying kick can also thrust towards enemies
1:08:05
A double boon vs Daedalus is such a dick move from the game tbh.
I know I'm late to the party – but a tip for fishing, if you haven't already figured it out: there can be at most 3 fake outs, and the 4th will always be a bite.
