Game Description:

Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.

BATTLE OUT OF HELL
As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.

UNLEASH THE FURY OF OLYMPUS
The Olympians have your back! Meet Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, and many more, and choose from their dozens of powerful Boons that enhance your abilities. There are thousands of viable character builds to discover as you go.

BEFRIEND GODS, GHOSTS, AND MONSTERS
A fully-voiced cast of colorful, larger-than-life characters is waiting to meet you! Grow your relationships with them, and experience thousands of unique story events as you learn about what’s really at stake for this big, dysfunctional family.

BUILT FOR REPLAYABILITY
New surprises await each time you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld, whose guardian bosses will remember you. Use the powerful Mirror of Night to grow permanently stronger, and give yourself a leg up the next time you run away from home.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE
Permanent upgrades mean you don’t have to be a god yourself to experience the exciting combat and gripping story. Though, if you happen to be one, crank up the challenge and get ready for some white-knuckle action that will put your well-practiced skills to the test.

SIGNATURE SUPERGIANT STYLE
The rich, atmospheric presentation and unique melding of gameplay and narrative that’s been core to Supergiant’s games is here in full force: spectacular hand-painted environments and a blood-pumping original score bring the Underworld to life.

  1. Tips to remember the goddess' name; associate the first two letters of what they do with their name.
    ARchery = ARtemis
APhrodisiac = APhrodite or you know just call her Venus.

  2. FYI if you max out the Shattered Shackle, it out-classes every rare damage boon in the game, even some of the epic ones. And when it says "when not empowered by a boon", it means "a boon that would go into one of the slots on the left side", so you can take stuff like Ares' 'Urge to kill' or any of Chaos' things and not lose its bonus.

  3. Aspect of Hestia is really good at higher levels(unplayable at lower levels), because it scale up by 25 damage every level eventually resulting in 150 base damage bullet, what it doesn't tell you is that said shot is pinpoint sniper shot with 150% increased range.

It still isn't like top tier or anything, it's overall dps isn't amazing, it honestly only arguably good, but personally one-shotting nearly all unarmored enemies just feels viscerally right, more to that point the playstyle is to basically spend 80% of time just dodging, and weave in a super shot for quick burst of damage. The attack is very brief so you never have to plant your feet, so can basically devoted nearly all your attention to damage avoidance.

  4. Exagryph is one of those weapons that performs much better on keyboard and mouse than with a gamepad, due to the way you can aim the bomb so much easier. Lock-on is fine if the enemy stands still, but oftentimes you want to shoot the bomb at where the enemy will be in 2 seconds, not where the enemy is now.

Minor mechanical spoiler-ish thing regarding boons. More of a description of something that you've already noticed but haven't connected the dots on, but it is something you don't know so I'm spoiler warning it:

24:40 The reason you get really good rolls on replacement boons is because that's literally a mechanic. The replacement boon always has one higher rarity tier than the boon it is replacing, and the same level. So your rare level 1 drunken flourish gets replaced by an epic level 1 divine flourish. If you had a level 2 epic boon, you would get offered a level 2 heroic boon.

  5. Rule of video games #149, Section 3b: Shoplift and prepare for punishment, if you don't outright die.

There's a hilarious Hades comic dub on YouTube, based on Dane Cook's "Creepy Guy at Work" sketch about Charon, that's kind of a nod to this.

  6. Ares' Doom DOES stack. There's a specific Boon for stacking them. And Hexagryph is one of the two best ways to do it.

It's for situations like the one against Megaera that manually aiming the Hexagryph Special is used.

You're (surprisingly) avoiding the Lucky Tooth keepsake, for being so worried about the lack of Death Defiances.

There could have been Centaur Hearts that you missed while the room rewards were hidden due to Chaos effects. Just saying.

Artemis is not asexual… the "joke" here is that she's supposed to be goddess of chastity, among other things, though she's had male consorts in some myths.

  7. Keith gets 18 Titan's blood after completing some prophecies.

Me: Daaaaamn, that's great!!! Time to see him try new aspects. Sounds fun!

Keith uses the same Aspect of Zagreus on Exagrypth while leveling it up to max and passes on the Aspects of Hestia and Eris.

    SIGH

  8. Hey there! Wanted to throw this out there somewhere, but I came across your channel not too long ago and have been combing through your playthroughs for a bit. I'm a huge fan of RPGs myself, so seeing a channel that's played a lot of them was pretty sweet. There are even some games I wouldn't have heard of without you- I actually learned about Tyranny from this channel, and that game ended up being pretty fun for me, so kudos.

I sort of also wanted to kick a can down the road here, in case somebody else hasn't somewhere, and suggest that if you're ever looking for another RPG to play at some point, Pathfinder: Kingmaker is a pretty good one. As far as roleplaying goes, it represents and lets you play as every alignment in D&D instead of the binary morality in a lot of games (nothing against KOTOR or Mass Effect or the like, mind) and there's a ton of different class and character building options. I dunno, I thought maybe you'd have a good time with it if you ever happen to have the free slot, and with the sequel coming out in a few months, it seemed like decent timing to at least bring it up.

Regardless, thanks for all the videos. Love your content. Take care and all that. Yep. … Can you tell I'm mostly a lurker yet?

  9. The biggest hindrance to that run that I could see was the fact that after you took the special hammer upgrade, you were now having to dodge an extra source of damage and constantly overthink if or when to fire your special. This led to moments where you got hit by an attack you normally would have dodged or were forced to take chip damage from your own attack. It was also very unfortunate the game never gave you early health upgrades (it might have tried, but the shrouded chaos boons kinda screwed you over this run more than they usually do).

  10. Hey It's Allright you'll succeed next time and abut the Nectars I too think you should use them on affinities rather than diamonds for example Megaera and Thanatos because it can lead to interesting things imo.

  11. I want to say you overthink a lot of things…. BUT… I only beat daddy Hades in my 50th run or so.

Soooo… maybe I'm the one who ought to think things through more often.

  12. Bow does for me what Shield does for you. Ever since I discovered fun god combos for Chiron and Hera, game didn't really have a chance to stop me. I've got like 16 clears with bow now and it's highest heat weapon I have as of now. It's just too good, it shreds.

  14. So Fated Authority vs. Fated Persuasion determines what your, let's call them "Rerolls" (the currency represented by the d20 looking thing) DO – Authority lets you reroll what a rooms reward will be, Persuasion let's you reroll Boon/Well of Charon choices.

The Level of the mirror ability determines how many Rerolls you start with.

You can gain additional Rerolls when you get Keys as a Room Reward (assuming you have the appropriate contractor upgrade, which I think you do already).

Getting Rerolls from Keys is completely independent from their respective mirror ability. So you can have Fated Persuasion at level 0, but still use Rerolls you gain via Keys to reroll boon choices as long as Fated Persuasion is "active" on the mirror, you just won't start with any Rerolls available.
