Do you not know who Sisyphus is? Really advise doing some (light) reading on an overview of greek mythology and major characters within, really helps set the stage for this game.
Sisyphus was a king who dared to defy Hades by (I don't remember the actual means he used) cheating death. Hades really hates when mortals do that, so when good ol Sisyphus finally did kick the bucket, he was condemned to push a boulder up a hill, over and over, for eternity. Seems a few years with the boulder have made him much more humble.
