Lol
I had my doubts since I didn't really enjoy bastion or transistor and I'm not a huge fan of rogue likes but the art alone makes this game a must play. The voice acting and writing adds so much as well.
I think the game handles progression very well also. Each run rewards me with new dialogue, shadows for permanent upgrades, keys for new weapons and gems for improving the starting area. It makes me feel like I'm always working towards something too which is great. Love the combat as well of course :).
I happen to get Bastion right around the time the early access for Hades began, so, when that grabbed my interest with its storytelling, I immediately made plans to get Hades as well.
Matt is watching Max like Weird Al in the Eric Andre show.
" My work here is done. "
this game deserves every bit of praise it has gotten including what it got here so good
Question for Max's audience: I love old school, skill-based action games but I thought Dead Cells was just ok. I mention that game because it received rave reviews and different accolades. I also tried other Rogue-likes and wasn't very impressed (though I did had fun with Rogue Legacy and its concept). Should I still try Hades with moderate expectations or is it as marvelous as Max says? Also, is the Switch version solid frames-per-second wise?
I can't remember the last time I had this much fun and put in this much effort in a game. After 540 hours, 32 heat cleared on all aspects, 40 heat cleared on Eris rail, a sub-10 minute clear, and all achievements earned it's time to put this game to rest.
I literally have not even heard of Hades until now.
Dude just play dead cells!!! Basically the same
Max, if you had made this review like 1 week ago I would have picked this on Steam sales 😬
Finally Matt can shut up about Hades.
"You don't get it until you play it."
Spoken like a true 90s kid when watching someone play a video game was literally the most boring thing in the world.
Dam.. max changed my mind for waiting until a sale to buy now…
I love how the first two runs I completed, I went in just to try & get resources, just to end up finishing them.
Its funny what happens when you can tell when a game was made with P A S S I O N, instead of Paycheck glares at Avengers
I think this game is just ok
I had to break the cycle; got too lost in the sause
Love me some McMuscles in my Maximillians ~ Editor should've used've Matt's wheezing laugh as his sfx. There's so many good ones!
Matt McMuscles also suggested Criticom, never forget
Max before playing Monster Hunter: "Nah, it looks like stupid Flintstones shit"
Max after playing Monster Hunter: "THIS GAME IS AMAZING"
Max before playing Hades: "Nah, it looks like stupid dashing and slapping"
Max after playing Hades:
I'm so reluctant due to all the reasons you stated Max, but damn, I guess I gotta play it now and see if what you say is true.
Haven't played Hades yet, but the game sounds like it has so many of the same qualities that made me love Enter the Gungeon.
hades music is god tier
after the indie world direct my thirst for Zagreus made me buy Hades, one of the best purchase of all time, top 5 favorite games now
and I fucking hate rogue like; I litterally bought Bastion and transistor right after
It's Supergiant. I'm glad they're getting a lot of love now.
Will never replay Transistor though. That ending crushed me.
egs sucks
10:54 For me, there's this holy greek-mythology-triade, which consists out of God of War, Hades and Kid Icarus Uprising.
Great game but I definitely did hear about it from you my guy. I just watched a trailer and was hooked lol. Glad your going outside the fgc games though. Sometimes it takes a while to get outside of comfort zones and really get into new genres of games. Rouge like/lites took me by surprise a year back.
I love that certain studios consistently produce top tier games. It’s like the days of yore when you could just buy something because “it’s a __ game, I’m sure it’s good”
Anyone else think this game and dead cells are top 2 in rogue likes?
Based on your recommendation, I am encouraged to check this out Max. But mainly because I know you do 100% authentic reviews. Hades is on my list this year!
I remember playing during my finals and kept on saying one more run. Stayed up until 5 in the morning that day just to die to Hades for the first time. The game got me invested into rogue lites. Right now I'm playing through risk of rain 2. Gives me the same feeling.
They way Hades felt to me since I picked it up shortly after release was a topdown character action game.
I rememebr watchin Matts hades video, and sayin "and this happend" and then shows Max playin Hades hahahaha
Godamn Matt Mcmuscles
I hate rogue likes….rouge lites….whatever it's called. This game is very good. I like that theres some form of permanent progression too! That's what really motivates me to keep playing, that and the story
Hades is just tearless Isaac (The binding of Isaac)
That's what a Dungeon crawler is made for: the "One more" effect !
6 times with no god mode how how even after only 20 runs?
it took me about 30+ runs with god mode
