Loved your reaction to this! And congrats on getting to the end!
Great reaction and remember how I reacted when playing through for the first time. To answer your question the Warrior of Light (the character we play) is kind of a reincarnation of Azem who was a friend of Emet-Selch and some of the other Ascians when they were Ancients. To not spoil the remaining story you have to cover, this is the moment Emet-Selch starts to realize who you are when Ardbert merged with us as he shared a similar part of Azem like we did. Its when we join with him, that Emet-Selch is now able to visually see us as Azem.
To put in simply, you are now 9/14ths whole. You are the Warrior of Light and Darkness. You are a new-old friend that would fight to save two worlds and bear the burden of truth.
MY friend and I collect 5.0 ending reactings, love to see people get to this scene for the first time
They better work HARD to top this ending in Endwalker
Keep playing at the 5.3 story, you'll find out more about who your character really is
Yessssssssss!! Play on!! All is explained and ……!! Thank you for posting your reaction ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Answering your question:
Emet previously mentioned that every soul was split into 14 pieces along with the world.
The soul you and Ardbert share is that of one of the Convocation members; specifically, the fourteenth member that stepped down before they summoned Zodiark. He reacts because he was friends with this member and thought for a moment that you had ascended back to Ascian form.
its really interesting how much sense Emet is soo upset with our character after finding the rest of the… "story" in 5.3
So proud of you
What I love about the writing is the clear differences between the younger and older characters. The twins are much more emotional and rash. The adults are more measured. Much unlike modern western writing where everything is backward.
