No Contest – Let's Play Hades – Part 40

Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.

  1. Yeah, you have the mirror power equipped that heals on collecting darkness by a percentage of the collected amount, rather than the one that gives a small refill every door you enter. It can be very nice after bosses in runs where you've already gotten the heat rewards, or for if a trove has darkness, but I generally prefer the steady drip-feed of healing myself.

While the randomized dialogue makes for an interesting means of story progression and insights into characters, it also tends to lead to old dialogue bits showing up much later than they make sense narratively, like with Eurydice here. It's definitely not a flawless system, but it's hard to tell an extensive story like this in a roguelike, and they did a pretty good job all things considered.

NICE work on that Lernie fight!

I know you're concerned with getting duos and legendarys, but the degree to which you almost completely ignore any other considerations when picking a boon is sort of ridiculous. You could've had an utterly broken build here with that increased crit damage from Artemis, maybe one or two other things on top of it. It's not an issue of you being bad at strategy or not, more an issue of you don't even bother trying most of the time. But it's working out for you so far.

Every time Theseus and Asterius do their bullhorn attack, you have the exact same confused reaction, it's very funny.

Those extra diamonds came from a prophecy you claimed at the end of last video.

The post-credits conversations bewteen Zagreus and Hades are often so good.

By the way, I wouldn't have even noticed the sawing noises if you hadn't pointed them out, so it's fine.

FINALLY your first hidden aspect! Achilles told you to go check the spear quite a while ago now, so I've been waiting for this for some time. The hidden aspects are all very interesting, but also very very different to use.
