You’re improving pretty well considering you’re only playing this once a week.
Okay, so the trick to using the shield effectively is its charge attack. While you’re charging, you block attacks from the front. To clarify, by charging, I mean both charging the attack AND while in motion.
Chaos boons are almost a triple edged sword. They can do a lot for you, but with the HP cost AND the challenge aspect they can also shoot you in the foot. Until you’re more confident, I’d only take one at the start of a run.
And of course, as you learned the hard way:
DO NOT piss of Aphrodite. Her wrath is arguably the worst to avoid because it’s got high damage and persistency

Always keep moving, don’t assume you have enough time to get a move off. Try to select boons with gods that go well together. Also if you don’t use your cast that’s fine! You don’t have to put a boon on everything which is great that you know that you’re not going to use it if it’s not your cup of tea.
