In today’s video there will be a pellet test from the jsb hades vs the mako slugs, i have always used a pellet to hunt and i am happy to be running this test, the slug scene is new to me i have seen a few reviews and they all say there only good in FAC, since i had some of the makos to test i have to disagree. Thank you very much for taking your time to read this and i hope you all enjoy the video keep safe all the best P.P.P.C

pellet test – .177 jsb hades vs mako slugs – sub 12 – accuracy
source
Interesting, and those particular brand slugs expand decently considering it's a sub 12 gun.
I will tell you the following and it may help you or maybe not-
I have fired Hades, Hybrids, and NSA slugs into water jugs at 25 yards from mid to high power FAC rated rifles in22, 25, and 30 cal. The Hades will expand mildly, the slugs anywhere from a lot to completely blown apart.. I have kept all of them. I have recovered Hades fires at 950 fps in 22 from rabbits and they showed very mild expansion and the same with the 25 cal Hades fired into large fox squirrels at ranges from 20 yards to 60 yards. I haven't killed anything with the 30 Hades as of yet. I have shot several raccoons with the 30 Hybrids though and they simply bent over sideways at the nose and penetrated rather shallowly for 90 ft lbs and those shots were all under 7 yards. I have those here too. I have shot a couple critters with the 24 Hybrids and they showed little expansion either. I have them too. The Hybrids are quite accurate though, and make hitting at long range (75 yards and beyond) relatively easy and clearly hit with a louder whack when they make contact with anything vs the pellets. Those claiming Hybrds are expanding on starlings and sparrows etc either have JSB for a sponsor or simply want to believe that they expand because they think they should be. The loud pop slugs make when hitting birds is simply due to the much higher speed they retain at longer distances when hitting the bird. The destruction is due to a slug's size compared to that of a bird's body size (like a human being shot with a hardball, or softball for instance). I will say this about the Hades- there IS something about those three holes that make them kill well. I am not sure exactly what the dynamics involved are, but IME on actual animals, th Hades kill faster/better than the JSB
diabolo's do.
If you want a pellet that actually does expand very well on game, try the H&N Barracuda's ( the HP, non extreme version) Those expand reliably on even birds and they make every bit as loud a pop when they hit critters ate range as any slug have tried.
Great comparison test within the reasonable sub 12 ranges! Look forward to the test on the tree climbers!!! As always keep up the great work 👍👍
nice review!!!
Very interesting as usual. Keep them coming. Stay safe.
Tck tck tck tck ooohhhh 😂😂😂😂 nice review lad thanks 👍👍
Another cracking video, very informative and tests done at sensible ranges. Keep it up sheriff, and the shooting videos.A.T.B.
I can honestly say that I am NOT an advocate for the hades pellets as none of the five rifles I have like them , they all end up at point of impact looking as if it was fired from a shotgun but I have found that my two daystate rifles really do like the mako slugs haven’t tried them in my R10 yet but I’m going to do that in the next couple of weeks if life doesn’t get in the way
The magpies down my way are not keen on Hades for lunch..they certainly pack a 'lunch punch'….
Great test John, keep doing it your way mate!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎
hi mate only problem i can see is the cost the slugs are sold in tins of 100 for £12 thats a lot for pellets cheers mate, see you over the range sometime been busy on the farm terrorising rats and rabbits LOL
Really good video, fair testing like you say no bullshit which I like. I find Hades work well in my .22 HW110 out to 40/50 yards.
Great comparison.. and yer bang on, find the pellet that works best for your rifle. Cheers
OMG SOOOOoooo funny !!! Gun Porn sound effects !!!
Very interesting.. I've never seen the Mako pellets over here
Thank you.
Another cracking video, boyo.
Just received some mako slugs. I will try them in my mk1 impact with 1st generation smoothtwist barrel.
Quite frankly I wouldn't be happy with either pellet given the 25 yard groupings. I'll stick with my Falcon Accuracy + thanks. In those types of conditions they give a ragged single hole used in my Ultra.
Interesting test that pal I'm looking forward to giving them a try keep up the great work pal
I can't wait to see Sheriff Pontypool properly pop prodigious piles of pests with those!!
Another great video good info . Your fx impact has the smooth twist barrel ? Cheers Dean
Bloody 'ell – looking at that range. Kin 'ell – that is field work! Well done, Sheriff
Be interesting to Chrono both pellets at 50 yards and work out the percentage of velocity lost from the muzzle. Mako claim betters BC's than skirted pellets.
Стремненько как то
Hades – for me – in .177 were amazing. In .22 they weren't very good! I need to get my finger out and get testing my slugs! 👍
We need more power that's the easy answer sub 12 is a draconian piss take
Need to try these slugs after watching this.
Tried the Hades once. Half of the first mag of 11 pellets were a real struggle to load in my .22 Diana Outlaw. Thankfully there was enough power (29 FPE) to push them out. The other half were fine and went thru no problem. First time I’ve had any pellets do that and I went through a few different brands before settling on the JSB Exacts for consistency and accuracy.
I suspect the head sizes of the Hades I got were all over the place and believe the Quality Control guy had a day off the day that batch was produced!!
nice test !
Great vid id like to try slugs in my .177 hw97k sub 12flb one day
For hitting power, the Mako's take it. They look to be more effective than the Hades for rabbits at around 40 yards. Think Ill be giving them a go!
Thanks for taking the time to test them out, Sheriff.
I love the way that first shot with the JSB left an image of the pellet head on the target.
great video man. this would really help me with my hunting. watching from trinidad.
Those groupings are 25 and 35 yards are absolutely shocking. Hitting power is one thing but you've got to be able to reliably hit your target 1st. Accuracy over power any day. Although clearly great hitting power. Nearly a 1inch grouping at 35 yards! Do you know why he grouping was so bad?
My grouping with conventional pellets at 35 yards is 7-9mm I wouldn't hunt otherwise due to risk of wounding.
Great video review of the Hades and the Mako slugs, I am very impressed with how well the slugs do at sub 12 fpe and how much energy they dump into the target. As for the Hades accuracy it's top notch I've been trying to get them here in the US and they are bought up so fast I can never get ahold of them so if been using FX pellets and the H&N 21.0 slugs for doing my pesting keep up the good work Sheriff I always enjoy watching your videos. Cheers
That testing was spot on. I myself would like to see what they do to them tree rat's. Stay Safe ✌️
I'm very interested in seeing how your pellet testing continues and the results on your pest control. I've been shooting H&N Hunter Extremes and they're deadly accurate out to 35 yds in my entry level PCP. Thinking about switching to slugs to get more range. At the practice range, my buddies are hitting tight1" groups at 50 and my H&N's are shooting 4" groups with 3 Mildots holdover. But they're also sporting $1K guns. Anyway, interested in where you're headed. Also, I've watched your video's back to the beginning, you've come along way.
yeah, the mako slugs def look better for pest control, but also 5x the price of hades pellets.
What is the diameter of these slugs?
After 25 years off air gunning your videos have inspired me to start shooting again. I’ve got out my unscoped HW80 and treated myself to a Daystate Regal too. Tbh though your level of accuracy is outstanding. Keep up the good work 👍
Very interesting. I'm just coming back to the sport after several years out. What rifle scope were you using on the range?
Many thanks
Superb and informative video
