Eris and her short hair have me down bad lmao
There's an arcana in the latest update that lets you remove the delay on the dash if that annoys you.
eris isnt a Fate,she`s just Nyx`s daughter
You'll come to learn that Nyx has A LOT of children.
You said you'll only be playing this for a little while, but with the amount of content in the game, doing 1-2 runs a week could very well last you until full release.
So the early access is as big as hades 1 on release
for the definition of a Titan, it basically means the generation of gods before The Gods. Gods and Titans are the same "species", it's just that when you refer to a Titan, you talk about the ones that ruled before the Olympians. So Chronos, Gaia, Atlas, Prometheus, etc. Zeus and the other gods overthrew them and would go on to rule over the earth.
Titans just seem more powerful because the domain of their rule is more broad and abstract. You have Gaia who is the embodiment of the earth. Compare her to the gods that come after, such as Demeter goddess of seasons, Persephone goddess of the harvest, Hestia of fire and the hearth, Poseidon the sea, etc. Technically, Gaia has all of their "power" since she's the earth itself.
The thing about Eris, the devs put her in the game as a sort of "soft lock" for players that outpace the story. She comes in to make you lose your run so you don't advance too quickly. So if it's any consolation, seeing her means the game thinks you're too good
24:52 good simultaneous groan there
Little Mel was so cute and adorable in that flashback and that she shushed Homer was just too funny ☺
The miniboss actually was firing projectiles at you near 10:00, it was just hard to see because they were being burned up instantly
Anyone else getting the impression from Eris, of one of those schoolyard bullies who torments that one kid because they actually have a crush on them?
Regarding your question about what defines a Titan . From what I've learnt watching mythology videos by OverlySarcasticProductions and JakeDoubleyoo ,Titans simply refer to the group of gods born to Gaea(the earth) and Ouranos(the sky ), 6 men and 6 women, that weren't monstrous (unlike the elder cyclopes or hecatonkeres) plus their direct offspring such as Hecate ,Selene, Helios ,Prometheus and Epimetheus.
That's the only concrete thing in the old mythology . If course ,most media depict them differently in some way ,and Hades is not one to one with mythology so there might be some differences here . We shall have to wait and see . For more detail check out Jake's channel ,since i think he made an explicit video about the god/Titan difference .
I feel like when the gods say her family (both olympians and from hades) will be surprised, my guess is that its because they believed her to be dead. Like Demeter said, they believed she died as a baby/toddler along with the rest of the house of Hades but Hecate actually saved her and hid her until she was strong enough to face Cronos.
Also I have to say, I think its delightful that you can sort of see the family resemblance between Melinoë and Zagreus not just with the color coding but also just…. the way they act? They are both such respectful, soft spoken siblings and I think Persephone's personality shines through that (and also a bit of Nyx, honestly). Its an amazing dichotomy to the usual boisteous and proud olympians and I find it incredibly endearing
the song is out on spotify
I can't believe you ran into Eris so early and consistently! I didn't see her in my game until quite a bit later.
Welonz, no need to be that afraid of using your magick. It restores in between "chambers". Every location you start the battle fully restored.
Also, yes, soul tonic increases your magick limit. It did when you consumed it, but you didnt notice.
Eris is not a Fate, but like the Fates, Thanatos, Charon, and Moros, she is a child of Nyx, goddess of Night. Eris is specifically the goddess of discord.
Titan is a generational denomination, and does not really mean anything about their size. First came Chaos, then came the Primordial gods, such as Gaia the very earth itself, and Nyx, the night itself. The children of Gaia and her husband Uranos, were the Titans, which include Chronos, Rhea and Oceanus, among others, and they were fiercer, more savage gods, representing wild, uncontrollable elements. The next generation sired by the Titans were the Olympian gods, the first six of which were Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Demeter and Hestia. However, the label Titan and god is sort of mixed up a lot, because Aphrodite is considered an Olympian, but she is technically a Titan because she was created by bits of Uranos falling into the sea after Chronos chopped his father to pieces, and thus coming to life.
Titans were the predecessors to the Olympians, much more primordial looking in nature, since the emerged from the actual Primordials.
Story goes that Chronos overthrew his father Ouranos (Uranus in Latin), and fearing the same fate from his own sons, swallowed them each whole when they were born, until their mother Rhea spirited Zeus away and gave Chronos a rock instead. One training arc with Gaia later, Zeus came back with a vengeance, split open his father releasing his now fully grown siblings and together they toppled the titans as top gods.
51:51 Bonk!
with so much reference with the moon it would be a little bit of a let down if Selene doesn´t appear at some point
just a reminder your magic automatically gets fully restored when you enter a new room so don't be shy about casting spells.
Wow, making it all the way to Scylla with the blessing of strife? Pretty soon you’ll drag Kronos around by his ear at this rate.
Also, in myth the titans are a type of god~ish beings; the last batch of children from Gaia and Uranus, before Kronos castrated and deposed his father. Probably the most famous titans are Prometheus and Atlas.
the way i was like 👀🏳️🌈❓😁 with mel and artemis until they started with the "Sister" thing 😭 i thought this was a Zag x Than situation!
I think Titans are basically the generation before the gods we know now. their parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles i guess
I love Hestia's design. With the grillwork incorporated into her dress and sporting a pot of coals on her head. She's got a fun, lovable, and cozy feel to her. Given she's the god of the hearth and familial intimacy, it's very much an appropriate look.
Originally the term "Titan" had nothing to do with size. Hesiod offers that Ouranos called his children "Titans" when they overthrew him, meaning "strainers/stretchers," with the idea being they stretched beyond their allotted position and they could not hope to hold onto their newfound authority. Which ultimately became true when the Olympians overthrew the Titans.
"But these sons whom be begot himself great Ouranos used to call Titanes (Titans, Strainers) in reproach, for he said that they strained and did presumptuously a fearful deed, and that vengeance for it would come afterwards." – Hesiod, Theogony 126 ff (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C8th or C7th B.C.)
That said, this etymology is apparently disputed by modern linguists and they assert the word originates elsewhere. The term "Titan" only took on the meaning of something giant in size relatively recently.
Exactly to whom the category of "Titan" refers varies. In some instances it is only Ouranos' 6 sons, sometimes also including his 6 daughters, and sometimes including any of their children as well. The one consistent thing is that the Titans are the gods who presided over the Earth before the Olympians. And many, though by no means all of them were imprisoned in Tartarus following the Titanomachy (the Titan-Olympian war).
In some traditions, Kronos was released to rule over Elysium, but from what I gather in this game he is still imprisoned and attempting to break free. I suspect however that the game will end with Chronos' reconciliation rather than his death and then we can see him released.
A little disappointed that they went with the mermaid design for the sirens over the bird designs. Hearing Odysseus' shock that they joined up with Scylla though is hilarious. Wonder if you'll run into Charybdis later.
Also I reckon that the mysterious dark man you meet is Erebus himself. Being the personification of the Dark, husband of Nyx, and one of the primordial gods, it would make sense. Especially since Melinoe calls him an "old man." Although, tbf, everyone must be old to her.
I do want to say, the double up boon from poseidon is actually misleading here in early access. It not only doubles up resources, it can double up on max health gains and poms of power as well. It can be quite nice on early floors
Hey Welonz, maybe you should do reviews of your own fights (the ones you lose, specifically, in this game) as part of the videos?
Like, a reaction to a part of your own recording?
@welonz yoo MGS2 when?
