  1. For those who don't know (& feel free to add versions you heard) Orpheus and Eurydice were a very happy couple. They married eachother with the joy of the world. Except a (very very very very) minor god fell for Eurydice's beauty. When Orpheus left to get something, the god made his move after hiding in the bushes. Eurydice was so scared she fell over herself and some scorpions killed her. The god fled before Orpheus could return. When he did, he trudged across the world and his song of grief was so powerful it got him a one-way ticket to the Underworld. Hades told him he would allow Eurydice to live again if Orpheus walked out of Hell without looking back. As they strode into the mortal world, Orpheus wanted to make sure his wife was behind him after not being able to hear her footsteps.
    She was indeed behind him, but dissolved the moment he looked at her
