► Hades 1.0 Full Release Story Synopsis

Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.

As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.

  1. -I'm not sure when you'll see this, if ever, but I consider 'Routine Inspection' and 'Underworld Customs' an easy +4 Heat. You still retain a lot of your power, and critically, it doesn't make enemies even stronger. You do have to play around 'Underworld Customs' a bit, by making sure you're picking up enough boons to have some sub-optimal ones to purge though.

-That is SO unlucky that Zeus' attack was the one that was made unavailable! 🙁 That would have made Damage Control a breeze.

-I'm SO GLAD you took Tempest Flourish! I actually find yo-yo-ing enemies with Magnetic Cutter and that boon to be so fun! It's a shame you didn't get to enjoy it on a lower heat, without the pressure from the more-powerful enemies

-Try putting a LITTLE more Titans' Blood into any bow aspect. You MIGHT be just a bit shy of meeting the prerequisite to get the Hidden Aspect.

-I'm really glad Achilles is talking about Patroclus again! I'm really surprised it's taking so long for their plot to advance for you! You've been kind of unlucky on that front! 🙁

  2. That was a pretty damn good attempt at 32 Heat! You'll have that final statue in no time! As for the rest of it, if you're getting impatient, just make sure to use the god trinkets to force certain gods to show up and you'll have that 15 Ambrosia in no time. As for the final aspect, I believe you've already met the 5 Titan Blood requirement and dialogue options to unlock it. You just need to keep talking to the deity in question until they offer you the waking-phrase.

  3. You had a really good run, this build is solid, the higher heat stuff is unforgiving though.
Posideon special really works with this build and the posideon/zeus duo would have really helped. Lots of synergy between the two, (extra kb+lightning on kb+extra lightning strikes+rupture on kb+jolted on lightning etc.)
Having artemis and dionysis in the move pool instead of Athena hurt.
    Draining Cutter put in work.
Re-watch the Thesius+Asterius fight, watch Thesius's HP go down from Lightning Rod.

Doing these higher heat runs without maxed out aspects is troublesome.

You seemed to lose a fair bit of hp while talking, maybe its time to focus and talk while paused after clearing a room?

  4. You really need to just avoid the little flame chariots that explode, rather than try to punch them. More generally, once you have Lightning Rod, you should be spending more time avoiding enemies and letting them be killed, rather than trying to kill them yourself.

  5. impressed by your run considering how you don't plan your builds (and bad rng) and have suboptimal pact selection, great job

    advices if I may :

    – calisthenics is kind of a trap. If you consider mathematically, 30% more hp means that it takes 30% more time to clear the rooms (and bosses), so basically 30% more damage taken overall AND 30% more time total. For 2 heat. Even watching "pro" players, it's usually one of the last pact they pick when they don't have a choice anymore

    – The next tight deadline level is worth 2 heat and is easily within your reach, almost mandatory for 32 heat. The trick is that trading calisthenics or jury summons for tight deadline actually makes you go quite faster (and take less damage too). You were only 2min short when dying, and had jury summons and max calisthenics slowing you down. Advices to go faster are : having the reflex to pause when taking decision (about the rooms to pick or what to buy at charons), not spending time breaking non-golden pots (as they are always empty), learning which miniboss to use your companion, and recognizing free rooms (events, chaos, midway shop). Sometimes things won't go your way (bad luck on the build) and you will lose because of the clock but it's not worse than losing because of another condition, it's just that it will be more apparent

    – underworld custom is not that bad, and actually quite fun strategy-wise, it just need to be on your mind when picking room reward and using rerolls. You have the tendency to overestimate boons, it is not important to have multiple different source of damage compared to focusing on one style (for example it is not important to boon your cast when it's not your main damage source. For this reason you are also often underestimating poms). Just make sure you have dark foresight in the mirror tho

    – on fists or rail it's ok but be warry of damage control. For example it combines badly with cast builds and cast boons in general, since you usually want to engage enemy with them

    – if you feel like it (like a personal challenge), stubborn defiance allows to push lasting consequences all the way to 100% and be your main healing source, freeing heat on other pacts. But it is less forgiving

To sum it up, put calisthenics to 0, one jury summons is ok (or even 2 if you plan some aoe), tight deadline up to lvl2, activate underworld custom, and you can free one point wherever you want. Also possible to free another point by adding one more point to hard labor (should be manageable given your last run).

Also on your overall strategy and gameplay:
    – The main thing that is kinda holding you down is that you are not planning your builds and (sorry) quite suboptimal keepsake selection. Mom's keepsake is a good choice when you don't want to plan your build but usually after tartarus (or maybe asphodel) you want to switch as it will disperse in too many random boon rather than the one you wants. But overall there is a BIG difference when you actually plan your build from the get go (and it's quite satisfying too). The first two regions are usually when you want god's keepsakes to achieve the build and duo best suited for your weapon. For example if you play the railgun, there is a huge difference between putting zeus on the attack vs anything else, you don't want to miss on it. Also having the correct boon from the get go will helps you get faster clear for tight deadline (be warry from the approval process in this case). But I respect prefering playing with the build you are proposed instead

    – priviliged status is not that easy to proc on certain weapons/builds, consider maybe switching the mirror when you are not planning your build accordingly. Also marked is a bad status to procc priviliged status, but is really good as a damage source on multiple enemies (you go from 15% to 45% crit chance on the marked enemy, and it will reapplies on another enemy so you can basically crit half your attacks as long as you target the marked ones, instead of one 6th of the time)

that was a wall of text sorry about that. I love your content, been a fan since I found your outer wilds playthrough, and the way you express all your thought process is really refreshing (and smart)

    keep it up

  6. I feel there wasn't really a good synergy between all your boons, yet you still came very close, no doubt you'll do it!
For a heat 32 run you probably shouldn't hesitate to use the keepsakes needed in order to get the boons/gods you want. Aphrodite and/or Demeter on attack & special + Athena on the dash, with these you can both deflect, lower the enemies damage and slow them down, which all combined is pretty much the best you can ask for. That said I'll most likely never do a heat 32 run so take that as you will lol

  7. Really nice try on the 32 heat, good luck for the future runs!! I never got anywhere near hades on my first couple of attempts.
I think that your heat setup is not optimal, but some of that does come down to personal choice at the end.
I would recommend giving UC a try, it's easy 2 heat. Also instead of CP2, you can try doing TD2 as CP2 is making your runs a lot longer(increasing the damage you take). The run which would have taken 27 min without CP2 now takes 35 min(approx.) as the enemies' health is 30% increased. So I'm pretty sure you can manage TD2.
    UC – underworld customs
    CP – callisthenics program
    TD – tight deadline

EDIT : I feel you should not avoid using the god keepsakes. Not having the gods you want is much worse than not getting whatever advantage the other keepsakes give you, as you saw in this run.

  8. Great series, I'm really enjoying it! I feel like moving forward the story and seeing everything is more important than getting 32 heat though. So if it were up to me, I'd say you should do some lower heat runs and really try to unlock the bow and talk to some of the different gods to get some new conversations, and unlock the last few dual boons. I'm not exactly sure how to unlock the bow, but maybe if you take it with you and use the trinket for Artemis it might help.

  9. 52:07 What he is saying here is a reference to the Illiad, mainly the war of Troy. Achilles refused to partake in the war, which caused the Greek army to sustain heavy losses as well as drag on the war for ten years. Patrocoles tried to convince Achilles to fight but he stubbornly refused. However as the losses grew, Achilles began feeling bad about it but still refusing to partake in the war, so he told Patrocoles to wear his armour and go to battle so the Greek army would be motivated l. However, since he didn't share Achilles' invulnerability caused by being dipped into the Styx river as a baby, Patrocoles died. When he heard his lover died, Achilles joined in the war and eventually got killed via arrow to the heel.

  10. When you reach the last level, I recommend going for any resources you think you'll need first. So for example, in that run you knew you wanted to buy a resurrecting thingy if you were to come across a shop so the first chamber would ideally have been the money one.

  11. Don't worry, Cerberus in not dead, he just lives in the underworld. And yes, he is one of a kind in the world.
Ps The hydra is his younger sister. Greek mythology family conections are WEIRD
