  1. I haven't watched the vid yet, but wanted to post this early so you might see 🙂

    1) I think you'd be very interested in the interaction from having your first conversation with Hermes in a run while equipped with the Lucky Tooth keepsake 🙂 (probably easiest to equip it before entering Asphodel)

    2) If you feel you've got a high-damage build, don't be so quick to dismiss Athena's Call :). I actually think that a couple runs ago when you had Poseidon's Call, you would actually have done more damage with Athena's Call, just attacking while invulnerable from her Call. Athena's Call can be thought of as an offensive call in the sense that it lets you attack with impunity, ignoring mechanics to just dish out damage freely

    3) Artemis' Call is also one that I think is very potent, but which unfortunately hasn't made a great impression on you. Especially if you can get a Rare/Epic one, it just skips entire Boss phases :P. It'll one-shot Theseus after he's dismounted from his chariot, and it'll one-shot Lernie after the final multi-hydra phase 🙂

    4) Ideas for 'interesting' runs: Boonless run take 2 (avoid boons as much as possible, and purge every one you can in-between floors, even the ones that don't directly modify your attacks). Dash-only run (force Poseidon out early and go nuts with his Dash + wall slam boons), and see if you can win just by spamming Dash 😛

  2. Wow! That indeed was very enthralling! And one of your remarks was fairly fair where you were wondering how Zagreus is so delicate good boy and attentive to others and a son of Hades and mass murderer at the same time?

  3. You can try a cast build using aspect of poseidon (sword) which gives cast damage, and allows you to dislodge your bloodstone from enemies if it ends up being there, or achilles spear which gives you cast damage after dashing via special.
You could try to do a money hoarding run with hoarding slash (hammer upgrade) and spend no money at all during your run, aggressively aiming for money increasing boons from chaos and poseidon but it may be hard to get the hammer upgrade in particular, more so since you can't reroll with fated persuasion (flurry slash i think it was called from the hammer upgrades helps this build a lot too).
I once had a fun build with level 7 epic (or was it heroic?) athena's aid which, when fully charged, made me invincible for a second or so shy of 30 seconds (!)
You'd need a little luck and persephone's keepsake or a looot of lucky poms (which was what I landed on) for that
Lots of triple bomb special builds for rail, perma-charm aphrodite's aid I've heard was fun with the zeus duo, dash only runs with poseidon (does a lot of damage)… And a poseidon-only build where you get a lot of knockbacks and slam damage and random blasts which is amazing for clearing rooms (I think i saw a gif on reddit where a single poseidon cast obliterated a whole styx room entirely), you'd probably need like 6 poseidon boons to make it work
Using aspect of arthur, you can try to stack damage reduction boons from demeter (the one that has you take less damage when out of bloodstone), athena (10% perma damage reduction if you land epic on it), aphrodite (damage reduction on nearby enemies + weak on attack) and dionysus (positive outlook) with a trippy shot so you can use your arthur special and stand in your cast (i'm assuming you use the mirror talent that gives you only 1 bloodstone to make demeter's boon proc easier) and then you'd be taking little to no damage, though you'd have a really hard time with your dps, it's more of a meme unless you land a few more good dps boons
Also, try using your summon the moment you enter a miniboss or right after you blow its armor off so you can get that entire health bar in one burst, meg is the best for that I think
sorry for the wall of text and poor punctuation and capitalization, just brainstorming some ideas before the run starts

  4. Holy shit, well done, that was amazing at the end. 1 Hp!!!

A fun run challenge to try might be a complete no-holds-barred speedrun run. Fastest weapon, lambent plume, don't take any troves or fishing spots, run through the fastest rooms as fast as possible, no extra rooms in Styx, etc. See how fast you can beat the game holding nothing back in terms of speed!

  5. Ok hear me out on an idea for 32 heat. It is all centred on Shattered Shackle (+100% damage if attack/special/cast don't have boons associated with them). So you pick this and you do a boonless run. Since you are not reliant on boons you can max out Routine Inspection, Approval process, Convenience Fee, and Underworld customs, without significant detriment. This is already 17 heat. For the other heat my plan is: Extreme measures 3 (cos dad is a meanie), Benefits Package max, middle management, damage control max = 32 heat. Weapon suggestion, bow, Chiron aspect. This way you avoid a lot of the really nasty mirror conditions, and offset all the negative boon effects by the shattered shackle. Edit: 1) Actually routine inspection at 3, cos the first three mirror talents are quite useful. Replace the three heat with whatever you are most comfortable with. 2) don't go to erebus or pick up chaos boons cos of the rng.

  6. I'm not that far into the video yet so this might not be useful information but lava kinda counts as "traps". The aspect of Arthur is really useful in the 2nd region, especially with EM Hydra.

I really hope you're gonna play until the "ending" 🙂

  7. I've been watching your vids for awhile now and I have been curious about Sisyphus. I knew about his punishment in mythology but never knew what he did to get punishment. The short version is that he is actually a very smart and very bad dude. I don't know the way he is going to end up in the game by the end, but I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw Bouldy…

  8. Hey Welonz, thanks a lot for introducing me to this game, I am having way too much fun with this game. Since others have already suggested some ideas, I'll suggest my favourite thing to do in this game – doing proper cast builds. They are the most fun ones to do once you get the required duo boons, and this way you will also get some of the duo boons you are missing. Focus on increasing cast damage using poms and you can just avoid taking other boons as the casts themselves are enough if your build is strong. As far as stygian vs infernal soul is concerned, stygian soul is usually better but only if you can get extra casts going on.(from chaos/artemis legendary/or charon's well).

Aspect of Achilles(spear) works the best for casts which don't lodge(as you get a huge damage bonus after the special) and Aspect of Poseidon(sword) for those which lodge. Hermes has some amazing cast boons, especially the legendaries. There are two cast based duos, Mirage Shot(artemis-poseidon) and Parting Shot(aphro-athena), which can make your build even better, but getting these along with the other duos is very hard.

Some of my favourite/more unique cast builds –

Crystal Beam(demeter) – glacial glare from demeter(keep levelling it up using poms) and crystal clarity(demeter-artemis duo). Stygian soul is especially better with this as the beams can last for a long time.
Trippy Shot(dionysus) – scintillating feast(zeus-dionysus) and ice wine(demeter-dionysus). If you can get both, this will become insane.
Slicing Shot(ares) – get all the ares blade rift boons, the ares legendary and hunting blades(ares-artemis).
Blizzard Shot(demeter-poseidon), Lightning Phalanx(athena-zeus), and Curse of Drowning(ares-poseidon) are also amazing.

EDIT : Holy Crap, this is just insane, congrats on this run!!
Also, incase you didn't figure it out, the reason you had less boons was due to not having dark foresight.

  9. 23:05 Probably because he was also raised by Nyx and Achilles. Also statistically neglect from absent parents seems to mess people up the most. Even more than abuse. Hades at least wasn't absent. Considering the historic and even current undeveloped nation terrible quality of parenting, he might have gotten quite a bit above average parenting, actually.
If you want to read a very dark, but also very enlightening book that will destroy all romantizising and sugar-coating about parenting and shows how far reaching the consequences are, here's one: http://psychohistory.com/books/the-origins-of-war-in-child-abuse/

  10. Congrats on this special run, you did really good!
For a hot second I honestly thought you had died at the vermin mini boss, and it turned out even closer in that last fight, that was crazy 😀

  11. you could try a pure casting build. If you use Poseidon's seashell and try to get flood shot, then try to get his duo boon with Demeter, you can get a really powerful cast. Add on to that some of poseidons bounce damage and some extra bloodstones from hermes and it will do enough damage to make up for not using other attacks.

  12. Maybe try to craft a build deliberately from the get-go with keepsakes? I feel like Lambent Plume can be a crutch and if you really want to finish off the Legendary and Duo boons, there's a couple of keepsakes in particular you need to equip to ensure gods. a legendary/duo run should have that mirror talent active, Fated Persuasion, and the one that makes boon rooms more likely. considering how much you enjoyed Trippy Shot, it looks like there's several Duos involving it, so starting with Dio's keepsake to ensure you get him ASAP might be good, and then whatever god in Asphodel to get that Duo.

one idea – the Magnet Pull fists + Trippy Shot. drop a Trippy Shot and Magnet Pull foes into the Festive Fog. I don't know if it works as a strategy but it sounds like a fun idea, if a bit silly. but especially with the Duos that put effects on Festive Fog, it could become extremely lethal.

also a Zeus Lucifer Rail build? the Lucifer aspect in particular for applying lightning effects as much as possible, and then whenever possible take boons to enhance the lightning.

  13. Aw, it's really unfortunate that you got Alecto and not Meg! Meg has unique dialogue for when you face her after having removed all your Mirror upgrades!

Also, amazing run, wow! Can't believe how well you aced this without any mirror upgrade at all!

  14. Wow I can't believe that setup after Tartarus. Insane damage build combined with the safety of Arthur? I'm jealous.
One of my favorite builds is the AFK build: you bring fully upgraded zagreus fists (+15% dodge chance) and lambent plume. You then need Zues and Ares' duo boon, Vengeful Mood (getting it requires both their revenge boons). You collect as many revenge damage boons as possible (Athena, Aphroditie, Demeter) and Hermes' Dodge chance is nice too. Then when you fight hades, you Just stand there, With your dodge chance a lot of his hits won't damage you (but still trigger the revenge damage) Plus vengeful mood will just constantly be going off, doing tons of passive damage.

A tip for working toward specific builds: you can preview the first boon by starting your run, checking the boon, and then giving up in the pause menu. When you load back into your courtyard, you can change your weapon, keepsake, or mirror, and the first boon with stay the same. If you put on a god keepsake, it will change the god, but give you the same boon. For example if your first boon is Ares' attack, special and rare cast you can use Zeus' keepsake to get his attack, special, and rare cast boons (there is a chance of increased rarity from the keepsake, but it will always be at minimum the same rarity). If you bring the keepsake that matches the first god's boon, it won't trigger the keepsake, and you can get 2 boons from that god right away.
Giving up has no negative impact on your stats, and doesn't increase your run counter.

  15. First, nicely done! Tense finale. 17:45 "Getting high… is one way to survive being horrible at everything else."
…I am always leery of the "strike from behind" upgrades. Especially with melee, I don't know how much that actually happens.
21:00 crazy monster in the lava. Eternity for three, I guess.
    52:45 Hades disappears, Thanatos leaves.

  16. 1 HP WHAT THE HECK:
    Arthur damage reduction aura
    Weak
    Stronger weak
Dionysus damage reduction while in fog
    Positive outlook

I saw Hades do 9 damage with one of his big swings. That's a lot of damage reduction you had that run.
