Phalanx steaks on the menu
why not 7? :((
You said at the start you’ve done everything. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve never seen a rip current build from ya?
Shout out to Lightning fuh-LANKS
Lighting phalanx is my fave duo boon. But hit me up when you get 8 casts 💪
About memorisation in chess: it is the thing Bobby Fischer argued would ruin chess, but it is fairly critical to competitive play nowadays.
Chess clocks are needed to keep the game fair and ensure both players know when they can go back to their lives – high level classical games take hours to play each game. Clocks are needed for tournaments to ensure players don’t have to wait literally days for their next match. There are some players I won’t even play casually without a clock because they’ll sit there for hours without a clock when I want to play a 30 minute game.
Chess is coming
I got 8 casts recently, and the title Master Caster that I didnt even know existed…. 8 Artemis casts + Exit Wound+ Quick Reload melted Hades so fast i regretted not having EM4 on that time..
ive been following you on youtube and on twitch for quite a long time and i cant imagine how boring it must be for your by now to do all these runs over and over again and play the same thing over and over again but just know that whenever i feel bad and have some really though times, like i am having right now, knowing that i can just relax to a haelian video brings me joy and takes me out of those shitty times, even if its just for 30 mins or so. so yeah, just thank you for what you do and know that you are making a difference in peoples lives, even if it doesnt feel like it sometimes.
Phalanx ❌ = Flanx ✅
You got me back into HADES with your amazing content, keep up the great work man! I just hit a 14 min run, which may not be that good, but it's my new pb!
Good run!
(Chess babling incoming.) On other note, have no idea what the OP meant when they said about promoting to chess pieces after runs. I'm intrigued lol. As for your questions (though take with a grain of salt), yes, preparation/memorisation goes deeper than opening, if we're talking high level. For instance, look at this match: https://youtu.be/dUneC7rbyB8 Arjun vs. Nihal. He prepped up to the endgame, to have an advantage of rook vs. knight and a loooot of time (14 min vs. 30 seconds). I believe he had a similar game vs. Pragg. It is made possible by chess engines, but also by analysing previous games. There are chess databases that show what your opponent likes to play so you can look it up and prepare against that. …well, memorisation plays such a big role that there are variants that try to counter it, like chess960, randomising starting positions.
As for time controls, this is not for the sake of the viewers, at least not primarily. I bet most viewers cannot keep up with something like hyperbullet (30 seconds for the whole game) or even bullet (one minute or one minute +1 second per move). They play it sooo fast. Also, classical (30 minutes games + some time added) can drag for hours. There recently has been a game between Magnus and Nepo, which lasted 8 hours (https://www.youtube.com/live/PWkBeTwbfj4). I feel like it's mostly made for the players and organisational purposes. First of all, players do not tire much, cannot simply drag time so that their opponent makes mistakes, etc. And, secondly, so that you can plan the tournament and not have some crazy people play for two days straight.
