I'm on team 'hex is fun' because sometimes it goes terribly wrong and pisses you off, which is definitely worth the mild cheating
I like hexes. Adds a little pizzazz.
boated i just had a dream about you how does that make u feel
that sprint and hex combo was so sick on olympus gg nice run
It looks like Frenzy wasnt applying the breaker sprint effect if you recently hit them with breaker sprint because it has an internal cooldown on how frequently you can hit them
Olympic Smash??? Maybe it’s the damage from falling onto enemies on Olympus when you go up a floor, but I’m just guessing tbh.
Fun run, found your channel earlier this week and enjoying it a ton. I’m def team “use hex it’s fun,” especially if it’s a hex that interacts with the boon you’re focusing on. Tbh there are a lot of other dash centric runs that could be silly, like relying on Hestia legendary for damage or ig Cyclone only.
Go for a max power blades run! Slow cooker, secret crush, wicked onslaught and icarus attack if you can get it, it gets insanely strong with a percentage attack boon
I'd love a max movement speed run! You'd need apollo sprint at heroic, pom it, get nitro boost, run mel coat, and get echo for the extra poms.
I don't think going for fine tuning over poms is 100% viable, but there's no reason not to try since you'll probably be running heph lol
Wolf Howl is the "sprintiest" hex because who doesn't love running and jumping around like you're Sonic? Personally, if in doubt when doing silly "one button" runs, I look to support Gods. Heph is great because armour but also Aphro for Shameless Attitude and Apollo's Perfect Image could be good targets if you're not sure what to go for.
There’s also a Hermes boon that gives move speed when a hex is ready
Wolf how + nyx with a full hex tree upgrade was some of the most fun i've ever had, wolf holw was critting for 4000 total lmao
I think the hexes are fun to grab on these types of run. It feels like most other builds are more so showcasing other boons and hammers/aspects. Having the hexes get their own time to shine with the sprint/cast only is nice to see
Memory game isn’t real it can’t hurt you
This is a bit of a wild take, but I think a fresh save file run with Breaker Sprint and Beach Ball trying to get to Chronos could be fun. It's the standard tech for speedrunners, after all, and you absolutely have the skill to pull it off. I get that save scumming to do this might be a pain, though, so your call on giving it a try.
Trivia time!
Poseidon himself is not known as a speed demon in Greek Mythology, but he did create horses, who are faster than any human sprinter could hope to be. In the oldest of Greek myths, Poseidon and Demeter were actually the gods of the Underworld (Hades and Persephone didn't exist yet). One day when Poseidon was feeling especially horny, Demeter decided to avoid him by turning herself into a mare and speeding away. Poseidon became a stallion that could run even faster, and the product of his assaulting her were the first generation of horses. Another version I just read has him trying to woo Demeter at first. She demands he creates a beautiful animal to impress her, and Poseidon creates several failed drafts of the animal he eventually settles upon–horses. The failed drafts were the first hippos (hippopotamus is Greek for 'water horse') and giraffes. Back to Demeter, when he presents the herd of horses to her, she transforms into one to hide from him, and the myth proceeds as normal. As Greeks moved away from the mainland, where horses were essential parts of warfare and the underworld was a mighty power, they reached the oceans. Here, horses had no use beyond defense against landlocked nations and safer travel between nearby cities. Thus, Poseidon, who may well have been King of the Gods at this stage in Greek Mythology, became lord of the ocean as well as horses and the Underworld.
The Greeks eased this transition along by enshrining an idea in their religion that all streams, springs and rivers well up from deep underground, gifts from Poseidon deep below the earth. This is why Poseidon was seen as the Earth Shaker (and why he has the duo boon Seismic Hammer, which doesn't have anything to do with the oceans)–even after he lost the domain of the Underworld, he was still feared as the god of earthquakes because water eroding the land was thought to be their root cause. This aspect of his transition of flowing up and out from the underground out to the sea was also spoken about in new myths about the origins of horses. In this tradition, horses came from a boulder that Poseidon split open, stampeding out of the rock like rushing water instead of the river Poseidon normally created in this way. He did this as a gift to humanity, and then also taught them how to tame horses and constructed the first chariots so humans could use them.
Poseidon as sea-god was depicted as very moody. Greeks obtained much of their food from Poseidon's bountiful fish, and his oceans allowed them to connect to and trade with each other and other civilizations all over the Mediterranean. But the oceans were very dangerous–boats were not nearly as stable as they are now, and many people died at sea in Ancient Times. Floods, tidal waves and storms also killed even those who never set foot on a boat directly. Hence his attitude in this game–he is glib and jolly, but he feels his emotions keenly and deeply and is quick and matter-of-fact about delivering his fury onto others, as we see in both his Trials and in his creation of the Rift of Thessaly to stop Chronos' forces without consulting any of the other Olympians. Thus, the Greeks had many myths about Poseidon's patronage and generosity but also about his wrath and vengeance, and his gifting of horses to humans was a myth from when he was in one of his jolly and gift-giving moods.
Speaking of giving gifts, after the fall of the Mycenean Greeks (the dominant ocean-fairing culture in Greek civilization) about three thousand, three hundred years ago, the other Greek city-states began to develop identities independent of Poseidon worship. Instead of Poseidon being the most important God, Zeus was, as he united the sky itself and sent down divine justice from on high. Further, cities began to pick different Gods to be their patrons. Corinth chose Helios alongside Poseidon, so a myth emerged about one of the hundred-armed giants who helped overthrow Chronos brokering a peace between Poseidon and Helios where they both gained patronage over the city with temples at opposite ends. The city of Argos took Hera as their patron, so in their myths the river gods around Argos decided a contest between Poseidon and Hera for patronage of the city by giving the city over to her, thus granting them more independence from the ocean-god who controlled their domains by associating with Hera instead. Most famous, though, was how Athens came to worship Athena over Poseidon.
The two had a contest for the city's patronage where each presented boons to the inhabitants as bribes to secure their worship. Poseidon sprayed water all across the city, but the water was salt water and the Athenians were displeased with his useless and uncomfortable 'boon'. Undaunted, Poseidon created horses from the heads of waves, scooping up sea-foam that was curled over into the shape of a horse's head and creating an animal from it. He then taught people how to use the horses, and the Athenians were pleased. But Athena's reply blew his out of the water (tee hee). She gave them the olive tree, which she taught them to use the olives for wood, food and most importantly oil. Olive oil was Athens' biggest export and what put the city on the map as a trade hub. The Greeks used it to wash themselves, light the oil in their torches and help cook and season their food. The Athenians credit Athena with being the one who taught them how to do all of this. The Athenians were awed at how many ways their clever goddess could find uses for the boons she gave them, and gave patronage of the city over to Athena.
Poseidon then practiced his trademark ruthlessness-is-mercy-upon-ourselves business and turned all the water around Athens to salt, forcing them to import their water from inland. He then went to his palace to sulk, but took the horses with him. These then became signatures of his arrival, with Poseidon always emerging from the ocean on a chariot pulled by horses with dolphin tails, a mythical creature the Greeks called 'hippocampi'. The dolphin was another sacred animal to Poseidon, as Poseidon recruited sea animals to help him scour the ocean for his future-wife Amphitrite, daughter of the God of the ocean's surface. Amphitrite originally disliked Poseidon and hid from him, but a swift-swimming dolphin found her and convinced her that Poseidon was actually a swell guy (we'll call that creative liberties…). Amphitrite agreed to marry him, and in Poseidon then practiced his trademark haha-yes-have-another business by turning the dolphin who advocated for him into an immortal constellation in the heavens and turning dolphins into his patron animals. Thus, Poseidon's chariot could transition from land to sea and back, just as his domain did, and the horses he created became emblems of the many facets of this moody and chaotic world-shaping God and all the goods he was able to bring to Greek civilization.
This was like playing fetch with Prometheus
@8:26 wow nice hard worker😎
@18:46 F10 to supergiant games 😂
Does Heph legendary on Mel coat increase sprint speed?
I tend to think hexes are just kinda. Their Own Thing in a lot of challenge runs independent of Boons and other such restrictions for the most part, and thus fair game, especially when so many hexes have things that can interact with the Challenge You’re Running! Hexes fun and should be used i think, in no small part because runs like these are probably where they shine the most lol
