Been working through what’s “best” for 32 Fear Surface since it’s actually quite different to the Underworld I think. I know this was a close call but I think I might still say it’s the most consistent set up I’ve found so far. I’ll be working on a video talking about the Oath and 32 Fear soon!

Obligatory first
i hate aspect of Moros, dunno why
I love hades 2 🥹 I love your videos. Papa bless 🙏
FIRST 😀
just recently made a comment on the last hades vid on how to clear 32 fear surface, ask and ye shall receive indeed 😮 TY FOR THE VID AND GGWP ❤
The biggest changes for some weapon aspects balance is loss of the slowdown effect in the arcana. It was super key to alot of position based weapons. Now, it's a significant choice to take the keepsake over more powerful keepsakes leaving some weapons without the safety the slow down provided.
YEEEESSSS THX MAN
Does fig leaf in Rift triggers in "empty" chambers like when you first enter a ship and there is a single zombie near the wheel where you choose a reward? Is this a bug Dan is talking about?
It would be funny that there was an arcana that made so that every x amount of rooms you swapped the weapon and aspect you were playing.
I just love watching your vids Haelian, they bring me a lot of joy and keep my anxiety down! Thanks for bein so cool!!
is Hearth (now warmth I guess) gain still broken on moros? I'm prettu sure I did a run with it and it was working as before the olimpic update
just beat it with aspect of pan, poseidon special, and a bunch of aphro to help give max health
Revenant can be annoying. I think we need an indicator even if it can get annoying to hear often. Like when Zag in Hades 1 saying "He's trying to respawn". Sometimes you miss one in big rooms and they respawn and there you sit like an idiot.
Wow, during the Artemis room, her shots only came from the entrance to the room. Very attentive design, but also really funny lol she's just shooting from the stairs outside.
Also Scorch is def top 3 statuses. Freeze and Weak are up there, too.
I think the new axe special plays a critical role in bringing it in line with the rest of the weapons by allowing access to on-hit effect builds. the game is ideally balanced so that you can run either % based damage ups (Apollo, Aphro, Hera, etc) or on-hit effects (Poseidon, Hestia, etc) and have a viable build without requiring magick use. % based damage is flatly good across all weapons and never the wrong choice, but on-hit effects require multiple quick hits to be viable.
staff hits fast enough on attack and special bounces between targets, making both reasonably good for on-hit effects. daggers attack VERY fast and special can hit twice per toss per enemy, making both good for on-hit effects. torches attack fast and specials pierce multiple foes, making both good for on-hit effects. black coat's punches are quite fast and the specials hit quickly with multiple projectiles, making both good for on-hit effects
this leaves axe and skull, both of which were quite slow and pretty bad at applying on-hit effects, making Poseidon and Hestia pretty bad choices for them. you could kinda use their absurd AoE effects to use on-hit just by hitting a large number of enemies at once, but realistically that just isn't a viable way to use these effects and flatly doesn't work against single targets (ie bosses). with the addition of a quick multi-hitting special, axe finally has a way to use Scorch and Splash, a 40 scorch value becomes 120 per special and a 30 splash becomes 90. the skull still lags behind in this regard, but now that's only 1/6th of weapons that Hestia and Poseidon struggle with as opposed to an entire THIRD of the weapons available. it's just a really good and needed change for the balance of build variety and I hope skull gets some kind of on-hit option next balance patch too
an important note here is that this is for magickless builds, ie no omega attacks. axe has always had access to a multihitting on-hit applicator in the form of the omega attack spin, but this is an unneeded restriction that requires too much investment. nobody is going omega spin on axe so they can stack scorch faster, they're doing it so they can run a death arcana crit build on aspect of Thanatos or to rack up big number stun locks with Aphro. the extra build investment of worrying about your attack boon AND supplemental attack boons (highly flamable, slippery slope, etc) AND magick regen AND potentially spending your keepsake slot on Silver Wheel for safety… it's just not worth it compared to a single button press to fire off 3 on-hits rapidly in a fraction of a second
it's worth distinguishing Poseidon and Hestia as the on-hit gods in question as opposed to the other on-hit gods, Zeus and Hephaestus, because of how different those effects are. both of those on-hits have enormous cooldowns that prevent stacking them on rapid hits (Blitz needs to fully trigger before being reapplied and Heph has a multi second long cooldown between pops), which means they're just as good on slow attacks as they are on fast onces
I gotta say, I kinda hate the Prometheus fight. It's really messy and he doesn't have very clear tells for his moves, especially as he gets faster. Also, he does basically more damage than Chronos which is kinda dumb.
Cheesing 32 with the "Transform…impervious to damage" hex is imo the easiest. Use an omega-heavy aspect like Moros or Momus. Invest in 3-4 path of the moon, they are easy to get from hermes' shop on the surface. Prioritize "Hex lasts +1 second".
In the boss fights and more challenging rooms you can cast at a safe distance until your hex is up, then pop the hex for 5-6 seconds of invulnerability, repeat. Very cheap but very easy.
Seems like an easy way.
Just a bit of analysis on Strength vs Eternity: While it may look like this run barely pulled through on Strength, it was probably dead before reaching Prometheus on Eternity, with the only hope of success being getting all DDs back from Athena (with no rerolls). The first DD would have been lost in the Rift of Thessaly, and then we only get 80 HP back and are taking double damage, so several DDs would have been lost in Olympus; the cost to buy back DDs is much higher than buying back most of our life bar, so our effective life total could not recover without this Athena boon. The Sustenance MAX bought from Hermes in this was about the equivalent of buying back 3 DDs in terms of how much HP it gave back. Engraved Pin also would have gone off during the middle of the Prometheus fight rather than the end, if we made it that far, which tends to be less useful for finishing the fight (and is certainly worse for the long term when it's not the end of the run).
In short, I think as long as you still have healing turned on, Strength is definitely the way to go from a simple mathematical perspective; it's just more ability to take damage in the end.
Black coat seems so over tuned. But I'm only doing 18-22fear.
ive been trying to beat 32Fear surface for 3 days straight, left prometeus at 1 hp, came on your channel exactly for this video!
I don’t know, but is it a bug that the surface enemies especially in Olympus do like a tremendous amount of damage?
I think that Black coat is way too fun with full on Hephaestus and hammer that lets you trigger specials with your attack, it's very strong once you lower the cooldowns and kinda braindead, just spam your attack and everything around crumbles.

Such wise words.
Zeus on axe special is really strong for a tap build
Hestia is kinda like Ares in the first game in that if you build around them as your main god, its pretty strong and fun. Its when they show up as your 3rd and 4th god that its lacking
I think this aspect would be more balanced if the "more 2.5s of omega special" of mel aspect was this aspect level up passive.
like, just making the explosion damage be a flat and balanced amount, and making the omega special lasting longer would be great as it is already the "inteended gameplay" with this aspect.
and make mel aspect be the damage increase one, like 30% +-, or maybe a new thing, consuming less magick in % could be also fun, mel aspect for this weapon feels lacking off, trying to use only omega special with mel aspect is not rewarding too, you just putting yourself near the danger
See, I'm not where you are with Scorch. I never once looked at Scorch as a stand alone and/or strong. Even at its weakest I enjoyed it for my very origination focused brain. Need a second? Don't have a cast? Scorch. EZ. Need an attack for Splash Daddy Slippery Sloped Special Torch? Scorch! it was just easy application like Dio/Hangover was if you already had your ace damage dealer. Love Scorch.
I just tried 32 on surface with Medea and 5 minute timer and got it on 1st try. I did face tank about 1k damage though
