The Fantastic Powers of Hades and Persephone

Queen of the Dead is a pretty cool title though. Hades used an invisibility *helmet, not a shield.

Hosted by Dr. Moiya McTier & Dr. Emily Zarka, FATE & FABLED explores the stories and characters of mythologies from all around the world – why they came to be and how they impact us still today.

Fate & Fabled is produced by Spotzen for PBS Digital Studios.

  1. There was one ancient Greek god that I wish, someone, had an extended informative video. Sabazios. Not well known, as Zeus or his other two brothers, but he had worshipers all over north ancient Greece and Rome.

  2. I mean it depends on which one you're looking at, because there's many versions to that story and some she gets kidnapped by him, and others she goes willingly to get away from her controlling mother.

  3. took a couple of listens before I realized that the catchy tune "Pomegranate Seeds" by Julian Moon was about Hades and Persephone.

I think more music should incorporate ancient mythology 😛

  4. On the topic of Greek gods, it'd be cool to see a video of Phobetor. I don't really see much discussion on him, and frankly, I had no clue of his existence till his popped in a monster prompt list I'm doing.

  5. Please put this on a separate channel. I did not subscribe for this TikTok style of content, and YouTube won't let me filter these out of my subscription feed.

If not, I will be forced to unsubscribe. 😥

  6. One of my favorite stories. I took a Mythology class in high school. That was a long time ago but if I remember right I included them in my part of my final exam. It was read to the class.

  7. Greetings Professor Zarka, how are you doing? I hope you are doing well.
I have a recommendation to make.
Can you make a video on Satan? I was reading on the subject and I was shocked to find that Indra's Zoroastrian version Angra Mainyu is considered to be it's source.
I would love to see your thoughts on the subject. Maybe you can also study Satan as an evolving symbol of iconography in our culture. Or perhaps by drawing parallels from other myths. I believe it will be an interesting video.

  8. As a commenter pointed out, we made a mistake regarding Hades source of invisibility. We apologize for the error, and thank you @doncalicula7938 & @MariuigiKhed for noting it!
