► Hades 1.0 Full Release Story Synopsis

Hades is a god-like rogue-like dungeon crawler that combines the best aspects of Supergiant’s critically acclaimed titles, including the fast-paced action of Bastion, the rich atmosphere and depth of Transistor, and the character-driven storytelling of Pyre.

As the immortal Prince of the Underworld, you’ll wield the powers and mythic weapons of Olympus to break free from the clutches of the god of the dead himself, while growing stronger and unraveling more of the story with each unique escape attempt.

  1. You’re getting faster and faster. There’s something distinctly satisfying with this let’s play that I can’t quite figure out, and it’s very enjoyable to watch. Thanks for the vid! They’re coming out even quicker it seems ^^

  2. Work on unlocking the last weapon forms, they are all super good. You have to feed a weapon 5 blood total and talk to specific characters and get certain dialogues. It's basically RNG, so careful looking at a guide might be in order.

    HA!
Aphrodite's boons might be inflicting weak, but,
Her attack damage(the attack percentage or in full gauge call) is the strongest of all gods.
You expect her call to only CHARM FOES. but when it is fully charged, instead of charm it attacks with more than QUARTER OF THE HEALTH damage.

Edit: also PIERCING DAMAGE IS GREAT. Cause it ignores shields such as THESIES' and Shield foes in elysium.

  4. Dodge chance is like crit in that the math works out great for you in the long run. It's effectively a 10 or 15% multiplicative decrease in damage on top of any other bonuses to your effective health pool. It's one of those powers that just quietly does its job in the background, no input needed on your part, and I'll go far out of my way for that kind of thing.

  5. I think that you're misunderstanding how Fated Authority works — it isn't automatically expended when you pick it up. Once you pick it up you can wait to use it until you see a chamber reward you don't like, and then reroll it for a shot at something better.

It is rather poorly explained, admittedly.

  6. Something to point out: Straight damage increase is actually very good because your normal attacks are always limited by their associated boons. Like, with Attack and Special, you can only have one boon modify them, but stuff like that Ares boon that gives a 10%+ modifier to all damage or the Chaos boons that give a massive modifier to one ability or Strong Drink are all very good because they increase the power of your attacks without giving up your boon slots for them. Also, remember that there's a fountain at the end of the Temple of Styx as well, so you get a massive percentage of damage boost from that.

  7. 7:35 Damn Welonz, you just going to trash one of the best legendary boons in the game like that? 😀

Lots of fish = lots of sweet sweet loot

edit: Also, for future reference, the surface fish give you boss reward loot, so it’s generally a good idea to hold onto that legendary fishing boon so you can grab 2–3 extra titan blood, diamonds and ambrosia.

  8. Personally i think this bow aspect is strongest weapon in the game when maxed 😛
Also taking flurry shot helps a lot – means you dont need to charge shots for special targetting.
edit: also think of dodge as of % hp increase(although even with just decent luck it will save you 2-3 death defiance if you're being hit often)
A bit about doom mechanic: just like weak – its considered a curse effect, so you can only have 1 on the enemy. The only way to increase damage from it is delayed suffering(or smth similar, dont remember exact name of the boon), which add 0.5 seconds to activation, but buffs damage by a lot + dire misfortune(doom effect stacking) which is really good if you can apply several hits of it fast like bow special does.

  9. My favorite observation about the Extreme Measures Elysium fight is that it makes Asterius much harder and it makes Theseus a little bit easier. Asterius becomes a beast while Theseus just has the most basic attack pattern that is much easier to avoid than the spear.

Another thing: I really dislike the Calculated Risk Duo Boon. It completely messes with my expected timing on attacks, but it does sell for a lot of money!

Last thing: Doom is EXTREMELY powerful and can deal a lot of damage, but it's weakness is that it doesn't synergize well with attacks that hit multiple times at once since Doom usually doesn't stack. Your bow's Special hits multiple times at once, and the way you offset this downside is Dire Misfortune which allows Doom to stack and have some kind of effect when it stacks.

  10. Regarding Hermes boons: he works differently from the other Olympians. His boons are treated more like hearts or hammers- they always show up in every run no matter what. In fact, sometimes if you equip an Olympian's keepsake, you'll still encounter Hermes first and then the chosen Olympian sometime later- because Hermes boons count differently.

His keepsake also doesn't force a boon to show up the way the others do. Instead it has a stacking effect in a similar way to Thanatos's keepsake, but with different conditions and benefits.

  11. Hey, I really liked when you started playing Hades, as it's one of my favorite games and it got me wondering: have you taken a look at Disco Elysium? It's a fantastic game, think it won some sort of award in 2019. Very text heavy though. Anyway, excellent content!

  12. i love thans character so much. beneath all that tsundere-ness, he first appears as a helper in an encounter and then gives u gifts when u beat him. and his keepsake is all abt zag being extra careful and not getting hurt which is just…. really sweet. best boy for sure

  13. In response to "is there any reason not to start with Hypnos' coin purse"; I think that there are certain boons that are just so impactful right off the bat, that it can be good to try and force them. When using the Adamant Rail or Fists of Malphon, I currently always start with Zeus' keepsake to try and get the chain lightning Attack boon; it makes the baseline attack for those weapons just so much better.

  14. Maybe it's naive – haven't done the numbers – but you seem to collect enough darkness most runs to make gaining health from that worthwhile. 52:10 Rupture actually looks good here. 1:07:00… tough, but I think I would've sold it. Extra money could compensate for the loss via Charon. Few significant ranged attacks left to face that I can think of. It's hard to believe that Patroclus wouldn't belong in Elysium, naturally. He is the very definition of a hero.

  15. I find Elysium is the PERFECT place to pick up Sure Footing (reduce damage from traps). Don’t you remember all spear wielding statues lining the walls? Sometimes surrounding the centre of the room? When you’re trying to dash away from the super fast assassin shades and end up brushing against them all the time? Elysium is some of the most trap filled places in this game to me.

Also in the Temple of Styx, during the final rooms of each route, those ceiling blades always tend to get you, especially when you have no choice but to step in its way to avoid continuous poison. Of course, you say poison only deals 1 damage, but you tend to panic from it anyway, traumatised rightfully so from that attempt ages ago when the poison literally took half your health.

Granted, it’s more useless with a projectile weapon. You don’t need to close the distance with shades lingering in front of traps.

  16. Hello! I'm new to the channel and I must say I love the way you say your thought process, even when wrong the logic behind it seems well crafted. I've quickly become a fan thanks for all the content and keep it up!

  17. Okay, that was an obscenely lucky start. A free Legendary Boon right off the bat would be great alone for filling out the associated Prophecy, but getting one of the absolute best ones in the game for getting extra resources?
