My best time ever (other than with Eris) was with serrated, I really like it.
I think the dad fight would've been a little bit easier if you didnt have to sell the hyper sprint
"Glass Cannon" Dan as he's known, up to his old tricks
I have never been able to make World Splitter work. Anyone have a thought on a build to try to make proper use of it?
Plus there's the extra time you're stuck in the dashstrike to get the other 2 hits out, which combined with the shorter dashes contribute to making this hammer feel super clunky.
It's been a while since I've played, but the worst build I've ever tried to force was Water Gun (i.e. Aspect of Lucifer + Poseidon Attack). Just push an enemy into a wall and slam them into oblivion. Great on one (1) enemy, but when anything that can't get knocked back enters the mix, GG. That being said, I rarely ever used the special on Aspect of Lucifer, so I was probably leaving a lot of damage on the table. In general, I think most builds that focus on Aspect of Lucifer attack probably aren't that great, from what I remember last time I played, but I'm not about to act like I'm an expert at this game lol
Regarding difficulty, that’s been my main issue with new Zelda games. They start out at their hardest and only get easier upon getting more hearts, stamina, and meals. It gets to a point where if you prepare enough, you literally can’t lose. It removes any stakes to combat.
Maybe you've covered this in another video but I noticed that you're very often dashing in a different direction than your dash attack ends up hitting/aiming. Can you comment on how you do this? Is it as simple as dashing in the direction you want to go and relying on auto-targeting to aim the dash attack?
I like to use this with sea storm hades spear
I swear, Tony has showed up so many times in recent videos
I think is not the worst build, but i cant use Lounge special from the sword aspect… its just too difficult for me
Dan your videos make me so happy
Bow special (without chiron) is only ok for crowd control with Ares doom, can't think of anything to make it usable
What about a run which you try to make as deliberately bad as possible, while still picking chambers as if you where building for something good, but then simply picking the worst option? Because sure, if you pick the worst chamber option all the time it is easy, but if you have to think about boons and hammer, and e.g. dis-synergy of them, it would be much more interesting. Alternatively, playing only with things that you know that a lot of people swear by as the best thing ever, but you find bad.
Re: no extra rewards for 64 heat
Same thing in Celeste. You don't even need all 175 red berries for the final pie, but still, no extra rewards for getting 202 because FWG is too much of a bitch to get outside of maybe like 1000 people lmao
About the game balance, I hope they address it in hades 2. The people who played hades 1 will have a lot easier time with the game if the systems function the same or similar. I hope there's an option to shake things up, like a hardcore diffculty option offered at the beginning so it's still a fresh experience for the people who know the ins and outs of hades 1. Sequels always tend to have that problem.
ah, serrated point! i've used it once of twice and absolutely hated it, buuut the results make it so alluring to try again. the shorter dash just drives me up the wall, i can't adjust to it over the span of a run so it's just a frustrating time.
17:52, you ask what else other than cosmetics we could be allowed to grind for.
New mini-bosses, new chamber layouts, new traps in rooms (to randomly replace old traps), fountains that give gold instead of health (which is a neat idea if you can’t control which one you find, imo), and the other gods visiting sometimes at the House.
Just kinda off the top of my head. I’m sure there are better ideas.
I have clicked the bait, you win this round, underworld content man.
Despite how I love it the worst build is probably something Arthur
Cursed slash Arthur?? (Can it even be offered lol)
Probably dio or deme on the attack lol
Question for you: after all this time playing, what are the things in the game that still make you angriest? Does anything even get to you anymore, like getting stuck in lava?
I think God mode is not as amazing as it is made out to be.
Rogue LITES already get a negative light by the inverted difficulty curve from meta-progress where you "lose until you have enough meta unlocks and are strong enough to just win"
for example in the Fresh-file to first Win Speed run category the vast majority of runs purposely lose the first run just to either not use the sword, or to unlock the Mirror and get the extra dash.
God mode adds to that inverted difficulty curve where you are just adding things in your favor until you win, did you gain knowledge of the game to win, or did you just get powerful enough to get the first victory. the real test about player skill would be to after the first victory/clear, start a new save and see if they can do it in fewer loses.
where God mode only really impacts damage inputs/outputs (the laziest form of difficulty) then give the game an actual easy mode
on the topic of "the grind," I think as long as whatever they add is fun to do, it doesn't matter. Like, you can say it's unfair to new players, but it's also unfair to old players at the same time since by not adding content for people in the later stages of the game for the sake of not alienating new players, you're stripping long-time players of more meaningful content in a game they clearly love enough to sink 100's or 1000's of hours into.
once you beat hades once it’s hard to lose any run as long as ur increasing the heat slowly as intended. yea the game is easy
Theseus has got a ridiculously good insurance plan 😂😂😂
I think Serrated Point's main drawback is mostly mitigated by the maneuverability of Achilles' special. (IF you are skilled enough to use it effectively to avoid big AOE type boss damage things.) I know that the I-frames are also diminished but… it's glass cannon but a thicker pane than using any other spear aspect.
