I sure do miss that Aletta Sky gal and her … twins? There's a certain Banana/Goose that does a really spot on impression of her, but its just not the same 😀 Whats really impressive though is that she has 3 friends that do PERFECT impressions of Aletta's 3 friends that also graduated at the exact same time. Uncanny.
yeah. With the end, I'm kinda in that camp. I'm a big Hololive fan and Coco was the first Holo member I subscribed to. I genuinely loved her content, I got pretty heated when the China stuff went down, and I watched her graduation live and cried when her genmates read their letters. Even years later though I can't bring myself to watch K-Son. When I hear news about her success, like the whole Yakuza thing, I feel genuinely happy for her. I want her to succeed still even if it's not at Holo. I just don't want to watch. There's just some sort of disconnect for me to hear that voice and it not be the 'Coco' I know.
Though it's weird I guess. On the other end of things, I was a fan of Shiori Novella's PL years ago in the early vtubing days (she was the first English speaking vtuber I really got into). When she showed up as a new Holo member I didn't reject it at all though, it was instead like meeting an old friend for the first time in a while. So I guess it kinda depends.
While I am sure that Coco had her own reasons for leaving that didn't involve the China debacle, I don't think that it ever really went away. I remember her streams in the last few months before it was announced she was leaving. Yeah, the China stuff had died down, but it felt like she was being treated as a leper by the company. There was just this different, more lonely atmosphere in comparison to before the chaos. Maybe I am just crazy, but to me it felt like something was still off, so when she actually announced her graduation I was shocked but at the same time not surprised.
I will say though, while I was really hard criticizing Hololive and Cover at the time, I do believe that they have gotten much better at combating these sorts of problems. I think that that Coco situation was something that really caught them off guard, and since it had never happened before, they just didn't really know how to handle it. After all, who would have believed that just showing analytics and uttering the name of a place would stir up such a storm?
These people really expected two young women, one of which is American by birth, to have a college level education in Chinese geopolitics. I'm glad that Kson is doing well outside of Hololive and I tune in on occasion, but boy was it silly how it came about.
Good Soup

God, I remember the chaos of Coco leaving and also on Gen 5’s Aloe leaving too.
Aloe’s departure broke me so much.
